Who pissed in your cheerios?

I'd like it to be a rare event that a group could find and attack your camp. It'd be fun.

I was supporting the idea not opposing it :P

Sorry if I seem grumpy. Its just that every time there is a great change for the better, like the new mitigation mechanic or that there are some high level places / monsters in zone (that allows you to look forward to backtrack and overcome said obstacle) or when suggesting ideas that the enemy factions can attempt to assault your keeps (which I made in the past) or the one made here - the forum voice is seemingly always at a majority vote for the negative.

It has made me wonder because I would love mechanics like this (properly implemented) but people seem scared to death at ANY idea that adds something challenging to the game. Its almost like people dont want games to be a challenge anymore. Dark souls 1+2 was a step in the right direction, just hoping DA:I takes some similar steps (Hard but fair, not "cheap" or un-overcomable).

Wasn't it, like, STRONGLY hinted somewhere that we're going to have to fight off enemies attacking Skyhold at some point?

I think that will scratch my "the enemies hit you at home" itch.

:)

Call me a negative ass - but no, I would not want that...hell, I would like sentries at my camps and (as I have said that before) my advisors added to them (or at least to the main one for an area), as traveling back to Skyhold to issue orders is not how it would work in RL (you don't have the time...you would send a runner (or have an underling - in this case an advisor - do it for you) from the field...If the camps had sentries (soldiers, mages, mabari, golems etc.) no one would really want to attack them (more so, if you get them propperly armed and outfitted later)

You might have it happen - once or twice over the course of the game (maybe more, if you are playing badly - meaning you are not accomplishing much...because people (bandits etc.) don't fear or respect the Inquisition that way, so they might see you as an easy mark...), but not all the time!

greetings LAX

ps: Yes - the changes you call "for the better" (like say the mitigation-system) - are among the things I "******" about, because frankly, I do not agree with your assessment (and I don't seem to be alone with that opinion!)...I would like "my" healing back -.- (don't like the tedium...backtracking etc. - you should be totally dead (meaning every party-member died) to need backtracking...not just out of potions, just because you don't regenerate :(

Well I know you were supporting it lol. All good. I think though that Casual fans wouldn't have an issue with this as long as on Casual you still got a full rest... or however the camps work. Haven't read too much into it.

Since Scout Harding seems quite important, for example she can't die. But Inquisition SOldier #14 can.

NOOO! Not the soldier number fourteen! I had such high hopes for him :crying:

Seriously: let us see how the no-healing policy works out.

The issue with having camps loseable is this:

You leave camp and get halfway to where you are going, suddenly a messenger arrives saying the camp is under attack and will fall without your aide.....you go back and save it.....again heading out...same thing happens. It gets old if you have to constantly randomly head back to save your camp when you are trying to go out and save the world.

A fort is all that's been hinted at, and we do get other forts to spread our influence.

In the most recent Twitch stream, they mentioned some of the fortifications that we would be building for Skyhold, and catapults were among them.

I sincerely doubt that we're just going to add catapults to Skyhold for shits and giggles. Defending it at some point down the road is *highly* likely.

The casuals would cry too much if such an awesome mechanic was implemented. People hate challenge. They want to feel powerful and unique without effort I'm afraid.

I'm one of those "casuals" due to disabilities and I would love for the camps to be randomly attacked, but let it be a rare event.  Otherwise the game would turn into full time camp defense instead of a story.

I was speculating maybe camps wont have the defence feature given as pointed out by many they are numerous and may hinder our game flow but it could be quite possible that the Keeps we get may be attacked once a while and maybe Sykhold in a major scripted event.

There is a theory on related topic going on in the forums regarding this but it could be spoiler territory and I rather we see it in game than discuss it here lest the theory actually becomes true I really dont wanna spoil anyone with silly specualation coming true  :P

Camps perhaps not, but your keeps you have to defend certainly.
