@Rane you don't even need the Avenger really, just strap a predator 3 or 4 on your Asari adept and watch the bugs fall.

We all need to stop right here and realize something. Something deep, thought-provoking and soul-stirringly fundamental:

The weapon that won the Reaper War...

... was Shepard.

Shepard wasn't a rifle however *points at the title*

Believe it or not, I am usually using the M4-Shuriken Machine Pistol. Even on Priority: Earth I still use it. Its weight is not really a problem, and I am in love its three/six-round burst. I am on my 5th play-through of the saga, now, but sometime during my second play-through I found out that you could upgrade your weapons in single-player, in the shuttle bay. Once I got the weapon to the mark III, it just made it so much more sweeter. In Mass Effect 2, if you keep pulling the trigger repeatedly it can maintain a constant rate of fire. Also in both, its reload times are almost non-existent. I think it puts the Locust to shame. Plus I think my Shepard -- who is based off me -- likes the M4, too. He is frequently using it in cut-scenes. Keep in mind that I am almost always a Adapt or Sentinel.

Well my current infiltrator is using the black widow sniper rilfe, geth plasma rifle, and the Phalanx heavy pistol.  If I was smart I would probably use an smg instead of an assault rifle (stuck with the locust in ME 2 and just upgraded to the Widow when I hit the collector ship) but I suppose Serana Shepard needs bigger guns now that she is fighting in a real war with the entire galaxy on the line.  In ME 2 she was just mopping up Terminus system mercs for most of the game.

Isn't the Carnifex the weapon that wins the war? That's what Shepard uses to shoot the tube.

The predator. It shot the tube.

Umm. That was a Carnifex.

Predator 3 is so overpowered. Predator level 4?  Now that's just cheeszing.   :P

I love the Harrier. But... it runs out of bullets too fast.  However, my favorite weapon is *drumroll* M11-Suppressor.

I agree that Shepard is the best Reaper killer in the game.

Ah, the Suppressor. As detective Anaya would say, "nice gun." (at least in SP. Not so much in MP.)

Having in mind that more than half of the Harverster's armor was removed via powers, that video hardly represents anything about the Suppresor's power.

It reminds me of a match I had with a Spitfire symphatizer, who was killing things with everything but the Spitfire.... ¬¬U

The Suppressor takes down half its armor in 2 seconds, just 10 shots. It is doing over 1000 points of damage per shot.

I don't deny that, but a video showcasing the Suppresor should be done only killing with the Suppresor :P

Its called a combined arms approach. :P (Actually, it wouldn't be doing near that amount of damage if not for using Warp and using warp ammo.)

That's my point. I bet a Harrier used that way would melt that thing into oblivion :D

Harrier? You mean Avenger I.  :)

Because it's accurate in bursts, and deadly on full auto.

I had to try the Avenger for a bit in the Freedom's Progress part, and I nearly vomited. The entire time I just couldn't wait to finish that part and equip something else. Even the Mattock is way better than it (I felt the difference instantly in the next mission).

I repeat: a rifle being standart-issue doesn't mean being good.

ME2 Avenger is terrible. ME3 Avenger ascends to greatness.

Doubt it. And anyways, it gets beaten by the Lancer.

Everything gets beaten by the Lancer. That's a no-brainer. But I do like the Avenger.
