I think it would be great if Bioware could add more options for class specialisations and weapon options in future updates if possible. Maybe something like one handed sword fighting (no shield) style or a heavy crossbow specialisation for warriors or unarmed Monk style fighting for rogues and so forth.
More specialisation/weapon options

This reminds me kinda of star wars with shi-cho and all, if the player would move differently depending on the stance I would love it ![]()

there is no basis so far seen in thedas for pure unarmed fighting, or monks (outside of the type like Genitivi)
Crossbows being for warriors would unfortunately end up retconing Varric into a warrior
They would have to make visually distinct weapons for the fencing style.
They could add polearms, return dual-wielding to warriors, give rogues throwing blades. I don't think they will ever give mages new weapons; mages don't have weapon skill trees.

You do know that class and weapon spec doesn't set the lore for Dragon Age? It's a gameplay feature.
As for there being no basis for unarmed fighting. Do you think they can't then write in an origin of a martial arts style or brawler style just because you haven't seen it previously?
They wouldn't have to make visually distinct weapons for single handed swordplay. I wasn't suggesting a fencing style. The swords they already have would do fine.
As for crossbows. It's just a suggestion that they could be for warriors (since Rogues already have normal bows and crossbows seem like they would need someone more sturdy to operate them). The fact that Varric wields a unique crossbow would not retcon him into a warrior if he wielded one (he still has a theif skill tree & abilities for one thing). Nor does him having one and none being available to the player mean only dwarf rogues can wield them. It's a gameplay feature, not lore.
When it comes to mages I didn't really know what to suggest. There's already the Arcane Warrior in the mp and a weapon suggestion would feel like stepping on the AW's toes in a way, but I'm always up for any other alternative suggestions to give them a new specialisation/skill tree or whatever.

I don't think the MP AW is actually the AW spec. probably a modified Knight enchanter.
They have Class-specific weapons now and I doubt they will get rid of that anytime soon, thus I don't think they will make a crossbow spec for warriors anytime soon either. not saying I wouldn't like it, just that it most likely won't happen.
You can't just write in something because you want it. they would have to spend a considerable amount of time fleshing out the backstory to the unarmed fighting so that it not only fits the setting but also makes it a viable decision to use against heavily armored enemies. Don't suggest some kind of spirit monk thing either, It would function so drastically different from other classes that it would have to be it's own class.
Also it doesn't matter that there is a separation of gameplay and lore. Since DA2 they have made it clear that certain classes use certain weapons. to make crossbows a warrior skill tree they would either have to never include Varric again, Give him his own unique weapon skill tree or retcon him into the warrior class.

The Silent Sisters fight unarmed. I guess they're technically from below Thedas, but it's not unthinkable that other people in the world fight the same way. That said, i wouldn't be a fan of seeing it as a skill tree/weapon choice in the game. A guy punching people to death through full plate armor is too unrealistic for me, even if it is fantasy.

You're just talking nonsense here. Again, gameplay is not lore.

I know that. I already said I know that.
However, it is not a simple fact to simply give warriors crossbows and then explain that Varric is a special case and gets to use a crossbow and be a rogue. You are completely disregarding gameplay in a VIDEO GAME. Gameplay is as integral as lore. So like I said unless they want change how the classes function than it is highly unlikely warriors will ever get a ranged weapon. The warrior class is built around the idea that they can survive longer than the other classes so they can be in the middle of the enemies causing mass destruction. Gameplay is just as important as lore.

I will always agree to this. The nullification of weapon options in DA2 was a disgrace, and DAI's done nothing whatsoever to alleviate that. My Rogue went from being able to fight with many weapons to just daggers, and now my mage has a stick he can't even hit people with.

Mainly what I would like to see added in terms of weapons are spears/halberds and similar weapons for warriors and crossbows for rogues. Those are mainly what I would like to see ![]()
