I think Mark Darrah or somebody else said that they wouldn't because it was really expensive and time-consuming. However, I also hope that we get something akin to that in breadth and depth. If DA:I exceeds their expectations, then perhaps it's possible?

What I'm really hoping for is that they expand on mage/warrior/rogue abilities and specializations in a SP content DLC...Even standalone (as in w/o story or new areas), I think that would add some replayability to the game because it varies up how you can approach it.

The whole point of the ME3 DLC was that it was never exclusive, either in pricing or console exclusivity nonsense. If DAMP is anything at all like how ME3 was handled, the only "exclusives" will be the irrelevant armour DLC crap.

From what I can see the timed exclusivity deal seems to be the first Single Player add on for Dragon Age Inquisition and I not so sure they mean the irrelevant armour DLC crap.

I am actually really looking forward to mp the closer it gets to launching. I think it will be a great way to take a break from the campaign, but still remain in the dragon age world. Also between playthroughs I will spend a lot of time in mp in order to keep the campaign fresh.

I was kinda hoping the first DLC they'd release would be like the Black Emporium, with a "face melter" and (hopefully!) some new hairstyles and casual outfits for the Keep (and maybe a new outfit to wear at the ball)... :)

No. Given the fact that characters created often look very different once they appear in-game, I asked specifically about whether a Black Emporium type tool would be available to enable players to continue tweaking their characters in-game. Mike Laidlaw's response (via Twitter) was simply "No."

From the streamed conversations we've seen since, it appears BW are confident their new character creator won't suffer from the same problems as previous versions. Only time will tell if they are right but, personally, it seems like such a small and simple thing to include that I'm amazed ALL games with character creators don't include one as a matter of course.

But that's just me!

It doesn't matter to me either way. I'm not playing multiplayer and I never bought any of the DLC for the other Dragon Age games. I ended up with things like Shale and Sebastian because I got the Collector's Editions. If the DLC is anything like the previous games this trend will continue for me. I honestly wasn't interested in anything they created later on.

Hopefuly the multiplayer will keep the game alive for enough time for them not to rush the single player dlc.

Actually, Laidlaw was saying there wouldn't be a Mirror of Transformation included at LAUNCH. He has specifically said they are looking into adding one post-launch (meaning a patch or DLC). I just hope they add it sooner rather than later! :)

We have 150+ hours of content to get through so I'm absolutely fine with this. Free DLC for MP sounds excellent and taking their time to make some hopefully awesome SP content DLC sounds like the right to go.

Some parts of the DA team are probably already working on Single player DLC.  Perhaps the writing team if they have had some time off.

This is the right decision.  They shouldn't be planning story content DLC before they know what works and doesn't work in the game itself.  Or we get Omega instead of Citadel.

MP DLC they can just throw out because map packs are whatever.

Honestly wont expect the main story or single player dlc until next year sometime, couple of months after release.

If it's free, why does it have to be DLC? Why not just include it in the base game?

1. Because the game has to come out.

2. Because once they know what people like in MP, they can more effectively add things as DLC.

3. It keeps MP fresh.

(2 and 3 are obviously related to MP aspects, DAMP. But a lot of things can't be in the game just because of #1 - you have to stop somewhere, but maybe there are small touches you'd like to add later. That's very possible today, so why not?)

That's what I assumed/secretly hoped for... But Mike Laidlaw made it seem as though no one working on DA:I had even begun to start thinking about single player DLC, let alone working on it already :/

Maybe they just don't want to reveal that they've started on it for some reason?

You missed out on DA: Awakenings - this was a very well done DLC, highly recommend it. Also there was a smaller one that allows you to play the part of the Darkspawn which was fun.

Given that the MP was created by a different development team then the reast of DA:I I would suspect that the first DLC for MP would aslos be developed by a seperate team so I really don't care.

Perfectly rational.

No sense in doing a story expansion before having taken stock and relaxed.

MP otoh, can probably do with some additional maps.

I called it.  I told you guys and no one listened.  The second multiplayer was confirmed, I SAID the first DLC they were going to bother churning out were MP map packs ala Call of Dooty.

The multiplayer DLC is free because of the presence of microtransactions; it wouldn't be free otherwise.

I expect we will get around 2-3 rather substantial story DLCs priced at $10 each, but with a several months' gap between them.

There's microtransactions in the multiplayer?

Oh I think they at least have good ideas of what they would like to do next for sp dlc, they may have to wait to see how the games does before going full bore but I would assume the story makers have already discussed possibilities and outlines and such if not direct work and dialogue.

I can understand why a lot of people want an expansion, but honestly I would prefer shorter story DLCs.
They could release at a faster clip than an x-pack and cover more areas (though in a narrower scope) where an x-pack would take a long time to develop and might involve a specific region in greater depth.

That's just how I feel personally, of course!

LOL  You and about a million other people would have called it because it is 100% totally logical, much less resources required for an MP dlc than a sp one.  It's absolutely zero revelation.
