Unboxing videos are silly in the first place. But for a game with nothing but a DVD in the box?

....Also following the progress of DAI for 2 years, I def will get it :)

Nah, after hanging around here for months (years) and a couple of thousand posts - I think I'll pass on DAI.

(no of course I have it preordered  :P )

Who says they wont be getting a review copy? And what "type of person" should this man be in your opinion in order to receive a review copy of a game? He's obviously a gamer, and if he writes for a major paper then whats the problem? I didn't think more mainstream exposure was a bad thing.

'that type of person' working for an organisation that receives advertising revenue from the studio making the game, the issues with this are fairly obvious

The game has gone gold on at least PS4 and Xbox One. It's possible they prioritized those versions for review purposes and plan to wrap up the others by the end of the week.

Also, Far Cry 4 comes out on the same day and was confirmed gold yesterday for all 5 platforms.

Well, this should be promising for all those people I've seen on the web claiming the're gonna wait for reviews :)

He works for a newspaper.  He doesn't work for a game reviewing rag or something.

true so it is less likely to be an issue.

As a fair bit of gameplay has been shown, this should be less of a 'surprise', though it will be interesting to see how long it will be before play-throughs of the entire game appear. That said it it took some people 50 videos to walkthrough DAO, so DAI will not be a job of a few minutes...

So when will the first reviews come out? Or is there an embargo until release?

If every media outlet that sells advertising to the entertainment companies making the games, films and TV shows they review suddenly stopped doing so, there would be very few reviews in this world.

There's usually a review embargo date, specified clearly in the letter Cameron was working on

which sets out which spoilers cannot be referenced in reviews.

Odd that we don't know more about DAI's part in EA Access by now.

I would expect the embargo to lift before EA access opens on November 13th?

So if I were a betting person I'd say the embargo would lift week of November 10th, maybe Monday 10th itself.

I dont know about you but I've never seen an ad for a video game in a local paper in my life. If the man worked for ign, gamespot or any of the many game "journalism"sites I could see your point..maybe. This man works for a local Houston paper who most likely have nothing to gain by giving Bioware a biased review unlike all the "real" gaming sites.

Yeah...the guy was obviously rather excited at getting the game, and of course people are jumping all over him for misreading the back...instead of thanking him for making a video and showing us what we can expect with our copy of the game...

Cool video, but...that mustache...is terrible...

"Lead them or fail."

"Enchantment? ENCHANTMENT!"

as well as...

horrendous mustache

That was about all I received from that video. Not too interested in staring at bluray discs as I generally just buy digital copies these days. It's usually cheaper and it's more convenient. PC gaming ftw.

But...PS4/Xbone/PS3 and the Xbox 360 all have digital options as well...

And having a disc/case is far nicer than some digital space that will likely be removed from your hdd in a year or so...just my opinion though...Physical copies for life!

They do, but you also have to pay full price since Microsoft and Sony are taking a portion of the profits (I can get most new AAA games on PC for under $50 when they are released), not to mention downloading on consoles is horrible. Even my non-gaming laptop can download games faster than either my Xbox 360 or my Xbox One. Consoles and PC aren't even on the same level, and quite frankly never will be.

Who needs to have their games on an HDD when they are saved in the cloud? I can choose to delete and install any of my games on Steam, Origin, UPlay, GOG, at any time. They will always be there and I can always retrieve them. This allows me not to clutter my hard drive with an overabundance of games like for consoles, and not having to worry about carrying a cargo-load of discs everywhere where they could become damaged, break, etc.

Microsoft may have been criticized for trying to push the digital download phase on console gamers, but Steam and other services have been doing it for many years, and with great success (thanks to the elimination of DRM almost entirely). Digital download is the future, whether console gamers like it or not. Eventually, you guys will catch up, and realize it is better and more convenient. There really is no reason to even have a physical copy unless you are purchasing a Collector's Edition to place on display.

It looks legit but if he's a reviewer of games he's a pretty bad one, He said that Shadow of Mordor was made by EA...I mean really...?

I am on PC, and I can tell you, I would consider getting game digitally, if it was at least 20% cheaper than in retail. If it was just 10% cheaper I would go with retail.

As it is now ,in many cases, retail version is cheaper than digital. I can only laugh at that. For less I am getting the disc, sometimes printed manual, box and I have all the things you got with your digital version. Because on PC, retail version = boxed version + digital version. I can download the game from the Origin/Steam anytime.

Plus, as a future teacher, I cringe when adults make SIMPLE errors that my 5th graders would not make.

People of all ages and academic levels make simple reading mistakes like that all the time. It's just a part of being human. In addition to being spelled almost the same, the word 'Fail' even makes just as much sense in the context of what he was reading.

If you don't think children will make reading errors like that then you're in for a big surprise.
