Because heterosexual white male gamers are used to having the games industry pander exclusively to their demographic.  That's changing, and that has some of them terrified, and the response of those individuals is to spew vitriol like this in every direction.

As a heterosexual white male gamer, I'm neither terrified nor spewing vitriol.

To be fair, every woman, and man for that matter, in DAI has a 'perfect' body. On account of seemingly only having one body type per race [IB being the exception], so that's hardly a valid anything. You'll probably find 80 year olds with swimsuit ready 20 somethings' bodies.

Actually, each of the twelve followers have a unique body build. It's not just Iron Bull.

Really? Damn, IB was the only one that really stood out. I guess its much more subtle for the other ones.

People keep telling me that I'm supposed to be outraged instead of ogling Cassandra.

Just to put something into perspective here.

Why is Cullen and Blackwall handsome and looking like straight out of hollywood while the women are not? If Bioware really wanted to depict reality/equality and what not, how come the female romance options are completely "typical" while the male romance options are not?

And yes beauty is subjective, and I dont want to offend anyone, but my opinion (as I am hopefully allowed to have without risking a ban) is that Cassandra looks beautiful, josephine looks average at best but Sera... Sera looks like she had her face re-arranged by a demonic fleshcrafter.

If it is objective then you can provide proof of the assertion that the three female romance options in DA:I are objectively ugly. Love to see the proof on this.

Objective beauty scanner results for Cassandra, Josephine, and Sera:

The later is more enjoyably then the former. May be a slight risk of ass kicking but I can live with that.

Wow, then can I make an appointment with a demonic fleshcrafter? Do they sell lotions? "mangle of cute elf"?

You'd have a point if it were one angry ranter.

It's not "millions" of people, but a lot of people do feel this way. It's certainly not a majority and probably not even a significant percentage, but it is enough people who continue to press the issue and attract enough attention to it that it is a topic of discussion weekly.

I'll just contend again that some people need to grow up. :\

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that I don't think all the people griping about the appearance of romance options or a perceived lack of options are sexist. They're all a bit entitled maybe, but I don't think all of them are motivated by sexism. I say that only because in some respects this is nothing new. We've all seen versions of it with every Bioware game that has been released, and while this time male heterosexuals might be the loudest voices, that hasn't always been the case. We've seen similar things in the past from just about every gender and sexual preference combo in the fanbase.

How much of that is sexism and how much of it is just the usual fan griping about romance options?

Dike hair, please he just don't know beauty when he sees it. My gf has a shaven head and she gorgeous, Cass is also. His opinion is worthless.

Whoa, but the chicks in this game are totally ugly. One of them has short hair and a strong jaw like she's.... a dude, or something. The other one has dark skin! Gross! I'm straight and white and what is this??

Am I doing it right now? :0)

Ok, it's a little hyperbolic... but I've seen people on other forums that aren't too far from that.

There's a pretty big gulf between "I don't find "X" attractive" (which is a perfectly reasonable opinion one can have) and "Cassandra has dike hair". Not that this is unsual griping - there was some similar stuff against, for example, Isabella. Though other gender-based insults were thrown her way.

I agree on Cass, she is physically unattractive and this least of the problem her personality is biggest problem, and she is warrior but warrior is just my personal problem. I disagree with  about Josephine I like . But I agree Bioware started cater to women exclusively. We have only 2 female romanceable by male, both are human no elf or Qunari I don't even talk about dwarfs. Only one companion which a lot don't like. Look what female have 3 companions human, elf, Qunari. It undoubtedly we have to little romanceable female compared to male.

So all women in video games should be made after this checklist:

- Long hair.

- Small jaw.

- Not old (not over 30).

- No birthmarks.

- No different nose types.

- Has to be attractive (objectively).

- Make-up should be done well.

- No scars.

- Good body type (meaning curves).

Not lot of change making different looking and variable women with that list

There's nothing wrong with finding the LIs unattractive. Or hell even asking for LIs that fit what you prefer in the next game.

It's the OMG this is a punishment!!! AGENDA!!! is where I'm smh.

Because your subjective ideals of beauty don't meet up with Josephine and Sera. I don't like sera but find Cassandra and Josephine attractive. Everyone's subjective opinion of beauty is different I have seen a lot of disapointment from men that Sera isn't romanceable to them. I don't share that feeling but I get that some men do like her. I know that some women think Blackwall is ugly. I don't pay attention to cullen.

You'd think homies would be used to not being able to romance supermodels in Bioware games

Hmm well, I'm a straight male so I cant really judge 100%. But Imo blackwall, Dorian and Cullen looks "Hollywood-handsome".  I just find it really frustrating , this discussion I mean, because I would bet my left kidney that if they made Cullen look hideous - the female crowd would grab the torches and pitchforks at once. But if we males complain about how the women look we are automatically the bad guys - while - if reversed - they would be just as disappointed and vocal.
