As the Huntress, the only shielded enemies I have trouble with are Atlases and Geth Primes. Which is why I carry an Acolyte sidearm.
But honestly that's just to speed up the killing process. You can take their shields down with any weapon or with repeated Biotic Explosions, it'll just take longer.
