I love Garrett Hawke. More than the Warden. Sue me.
He's so fabulous. The fact that his default looks adorable in DA:I makes his appearance in the game all the better.
I thought that Leandra was supposed to meet with Gamlen the day she was taken. In the conversation, Bodahn suggests that maybe Leandra went to meet her suitor because of the white lilies.
I don't ever remember Hawke's mother saying anything about white lilies in the snippet chats. The fact that she brought up being courted seemed more about Hawke and less about her, insofar that her remaining child was moving on and/or up in the world and that she could feel like a woman and not just a mother.
If Hawke is playing a role in DAI and is that hidden LI that I have heard about...that might erase how upset I am that Vivienne is not romanceable. I totally would romance the **** out of a FemHawke.
Oh dear... there are actual rumors about a hidden LI? I thought at best it would just be a pipe dream of mine. How could BioWare be so cruel as to make me choose between Mr. Boulton's snarky Hawke and Cullen???!!! ARGH!
There is nothing in this that even implies that in a city of thousands, the killer (who if you remember targeted YOUNG women) would want to take Hawke's old mother. You're making a leap of logic.
In case of some very, very, very important matters like this one I would (IRL) freak out, literally, and wouldn't let my mother go out, even more if there were any clues in our conversation that she could be meeting with someone she just met not long ago, while the serial killer is on the streets. Game wouldn't let mo do anything about that.
That vary from person to person of course. I am not telling anyone to share my POV.
So here is why I don't like Hawke, and why I ended up with only single playthrough.
Why would Hawke automatically think his/her mother would be murdered just because she wants some lovin'?
Because it is the city infested with thiefs, crazy mages, demons, horny qunaris, junkie templars and disturbing looking elfs? Man...That Kirkwall exists for real I would lock my whole family in a manor and throwed the key into the sea
it is not normal age to live neither...jking hehe

Considering they made Leliana unavailable, I hardly doubt they'll make Hawke a possible LI.
I hold out hope for secret 10th companion, though.
Even though I like Hawke, why do I keep getting the feeling that he will die if he/she is playable by us.

Well, the difference is that the Warden could have romanced Leliana, and I think that relationship will figure heavily into the storyline if it happened. And lots of fans in the past have expressed being completely besotted with Marian.
One of my worldstate Garretts is unromanced, just in case.
And this is one reason why I am so glad I ordered the strategy guide -- I'm not above spoiling myself to find out who is an available LI.
I would hardly consider Hawke a loser, but I was disenchanted by the so called "rise to power" premise, which was no rise to power at all. You just ran errands the entire game. The only time you gain any power is when you side with the Templars at the very end of the game. But I blame that more on the writers than the character.
As for Leandra's death. I think...aside from it being yet another blood mage freakshow....it was befitting. I think players would have preferred to have caught the killer simply because they were "on the case" and thus save Hawke's mother. Quentin was a serial killer and they usually get away with several killings throughout the years before they are caught unless they are really stupid. Remember, Quentin had the help of the Grand Enchanter. And Hawke was not a freaking detective. I would put the blame on the Guards, Templars, and Orsino far more than I ever would Hawke for that screw up. The only thing I found stupid was making Quentin's hide out in the same location Hawke has been to several times and use a small barrel to cover the trap door. But once again that is the fault of the devs for reusing sets.
Also, Leandra never mentions the lilies. She vaguely states that she is thinking of remarrying. If you press her on it, she pretty much tells you to mind your own business but she likes being courted at her age. And Hawke barely spent time at home so I doubt he would have noticed the lilies on the table. Actually, the lilies aren't even there until the quest starts because Quentin gives them to the women just before kidnapping them.

Ha-ha!
That's so true!
Yes, I really wish I could have laid into Aveline for dismissing Emeric's claims, even if Hawke forgave her later.
I dont quite get it, but it's a good short comic ![]()

And I hate mages and Orsino too, for the same reason. Since the very beginning.
Orsino is already dead but I can still get my revenge on mages. They are going to burn in the flames of the Inquisition. I waited for that few years.

I didn't know the song before (pretty bad btw). But Hawke looks like she is trolling. "You are not done with me!"
No? ![]()
Well, then I honestly think you have serious problems to understand written language. And irony.
The problem with your plain explanation is the little premise of Dragon Age 2 being sold and developed as a sequel for Origins even for the game creators. You may have some fantasies and ""motives"" to think otherwise, but they are nothing aside from fantasies you disguise with ""motives"".
Also, it's pretty rude to allude to my english, given the fact that obviously is not my native language. Sorry if my lack of skill bothers you.
Not at all. I wasn't trying to be facetious either, as what you literally said did not make sense to me. Being that you are not a native English speaker, that would provide context for why there was a disconnect.
There really are no continuities between DAO and DA2. BioWare, out of laziness or pure lack of imagination, really did the fan base a disservice by naming the game DA2. It suggested that it was a sequel in some way, when there really is no correlation between the two, unlike DA2 and DAI.
I will not argue semantics with you any longer, however, as I clearly do not understand you and you do not understand me. We'll simply have to agree to disagree.
To you, yes.
To others, it is merely the cameo of an NPC they didn't particularly like.
Except that he wasn't an NPC, by the very definition of the term.
Considering he was the protagonist of DA2, and that the whole POINT of DA2 is Cassandra finding out what happened to Hawke in Kirkwall and finding him to help resolve the mage rebellion, it is definitely a GOOD thing that he/she plays a substantial role in DAI.
Otherwise it would pretty much make DA2 irrelevant, aside from introducing 2 companions (even the mage rebellion was really started in a novel, after all).
So yes, even if you didn't like Hawke, it's still a good thing he/she's back, from a storytelling/continuity standpoint.
good.
I like sarcastic hawke.
Actually it is the other way around.
Act 1, Awakening.
Yep. Act one starts just as the archdemon is killed and awakening is 6 months after that

But we recruit Anders in Act 1, so that doesn't work out.
Isn't this already known???

Very much agreed.

Me too but for different reasons. I blame the Warden for no Leliana romance.
Sorry if this has been covered already (don't feel like going through all the pages
), but which version of Hawke will be in the game? Obviously our choices will be represented via the Keep, but will we see /our/ custom Hawke? I don't think the Keep gets that info, does it (aside from the char portrait)?
