Sorry if this has been covered already (don't feel like going through all the pages :P), but which version of Hawke will be in the game?  Obviously our choices will be represented via the Keep, but will we see /our/ custom Hawke?  I don't think the Keep gets that info, does it (aside from the char portrait)?

It's been said that there will be character generation for Hawke's appearance as well. This will make a lot of sense if we actually get to play him/her a bit (if that's the case, I imagine we'll only get to generate that appearance later on in the game).

Ah, awesome.  That makes sense, I guess we'll just have to wait to see for sure.

And I hate mages and Orsino too, for the same reason. Since the very beginning.

Orsino is already dead but I can still get my revenge on mages. They are going to burn in the flames of the Inquisition. I waited for that few years.

hahaha ;)

Being that you are someone from a mage blood family, what would you do if you had a kid that's a mage?

That's a hard one, never thought about that. I would probably made him tranquil, I am not sure tho...

Oh my gawd.  I LOVE that song.

I would just die if this was male Hawke instead of femHawke.

I really really don't want to be forced to play as Hawke again. DAI is about my Inquisitor, not Hawke. Hawke had their time and failed to impress, they are done. Shove them into my story all you want, but don't make me play as them again.

I'm pretty sure Hawke will just fight along us in the same way Leliana joins the party in that Redcliffe demo.

I've been hoping for this with the Warden and Hawke, but haven't seen anything concrete on it. Was this explicitly stated somewhere?

I hope my unromanced Hawke will end up with Varric.

Finally.

Mike confirmed that if Hawke or the Warden were in DAI, we'd be able to customize them. Since Hawke is definitely in, then it's a given that we'll be able to customize their appearance.

As for Hawke being a temporary PC, that is pure speculation. It's possible they just tag-along for a certain quest and act as an extra body in combat. Personally, while I adore Hawke, I tend to think they'll be a temp companion at most with the tag-along scenario most likely.

But didnt i kill him in Awakening?

YES. THIS. I was SO confused when someone named hawke showed up in a mercenary group since my hawke chose the mercenary group...so I gave them money and let them walk away. XD

Cameron lee said in the Cologne Twitch stream that Hawke plays a significant part in the game.

Does this mean that Hawke is an essential NPC and is therefore.... unkillable?

I really hope the character creator for Hawke is right after the Inquisitor's. It'll be so jarring if it pops up in the middle of the game.

You don't think it will be jarring after the Inquisitor's? Given what we've seen, I think the best place would be when you import your world state from the Keep- before you even select your Inquisitor's race/gender/class. That way you can keep the two separate and not have to worry about futzing around with an immersion breaking character creator after the game has officially started.

The downside is, of course, having to delay getting into the game by however long it takes you to perfect both Hawke and your Inquisitor.

Yep. Act one starts just as the archdemon is killed and awakening is 6 months after that

Lotherings destruction is in the middle of DAO, not the beginning, and he takes probably two more months to get to Kirkwall (3 weeks on the sea plus idk how long on foot to Gwaren before that). So really the Archdemon was probably killed not long after they arrive, certainly not just before act 1. Awakening definitely happens in full before the start of act one, its about half a year after DAO, but 2 is not one year after DAO begins but somewhere around 1.5 years later. Anders was a fresh arrival so Awakening probably just ended a month or two prior. This ads up perfectly approximately. Awakening ends and act 1 begin around the same time, the latter maybe about 1 month later. There is no assumption that Hawke waits months to recruit Anders, it could be the first thing you do.

I agree. I enjoyed the Warden-Commander's story immensely, even if he didn't have a voice. I'd like to see BioWare return to him at some point to truly bring closure to his character and end his legacy on a high point.

How much higher can you get, really? He (or she) stopped the Fifth Blight, killed an Archdemon, and curbed a new Darkspawn threat in the making.

I just don't see it being possible. There are too many origin stories. There are too many possible choices the Warden could have made in DAO and DAA. To fully encompass this in a meaningful way would not be cost-effective or practical. To just create a "canon" Warden would just upset the fan base and really ruin the character. If BioWare were to even attempt to revive the Warden, they may as well create a standalone game around him/her again.

This is the only option, but it's too much work for Bioware to even attempt. The Ultimate Sacrifice ending of DAO is kinda like the Old God Baby choice, but massively more disrupting. You could just slot the Orlesian Warden (or a new one entirely) in for people who didn't do DAO or did the US, but you'd have to change so much dialogue I just can't see them doing it. It's why so many choices that would deviate too much in sequels got the cosmic retcon punch (looking at you, all-human Council in ME).

I never chose that option in Mass Effect, what happens exactly?

I agree with you completely, I doubt The Warden will get much screen time ever again.

There are a few ways you can end ME1, but one of them has Shep, Udina, and Anderson basically installing an all-human council after the others bite it. Bioware almost immediately put the kibosh to it. You get some radio message in ME2 and that's about it - you don't even get to see them in ME2, and the Councillors are all holograms in there, anyway. By ME3, it's reduced to "That ending? What ending?" status.

To understand that mentality, it's part "I want to kill everyone in the entire game and Bioware should let me" and part "DA2 really sucked compared to Origins and being able to axe the main character would really bring some sort of vengeance".

Not my sentiment, etc, etc disclaimer here.
