You're just starting provocation here and you know it.

And you do that too, more than often, and you know it.

Spoiler

The link to one of your trolling one liners, I have it, if you insist.

Well sorry for actually wanting to defend a character I actually love... not. Not sorry at all.

I really don't buy into this logic.

The trick here is to understand that when one thing is affiliated with a thing people don't like, it tends to be disliked as a side-effect. This comes up a lot when discussing politics with people during the last two presidencies in the US.

That's really all there is to buying into the logic.

That being said, if you haven't run into this in life, you're lucky enough to have missed out on one of the more annoying aspects of human interaction.

For what it's worth, I'm very excited to see Hawke again. I much preferred the story of DA2, though I admit some of the mechanics were clunky.

Origins was fun, but it was just another crusade against pure evil. Some people enjoy that, and that's no problem at all.

For me, the themes of DA2--loss, oppression, rebellion and terrorism, (mostly) human conflict--were much more compelling than another bloody dragon.

Can't wait to see Hawke make a reappearance.

Definetely agree, DA2's story was much more compelling than Origin's. Yes, the ending was rushed, but overall, it engaged me for more than yet another "you're the last hope to save the world".

You argued that consent wasn't real because it was "a manufactured creation". You're introducing a new argument. Please don't act as if you've been saying this the entire time, and I'm just bringing up random non-sequiturs.

There was another part of your post that I missed, so I'll respond to it now:

Social constructs are arbitrary, by their very nature. As far as we know, only humans have any conception of consent or why it's important. People have to be the ones to draw the lines.

It's only a good example if legs necessarily form the basis of any of those actions. They don't, as there are various substitutes for legs in those situations. The only possible substitute I can think of for emotion in this case is the memory of emotion, but Tranquil people don't take that into account. Their actions are not based on what they remember feeling, but on pure "logic", and as someone stated earlier in the thread, their brand of logic dictates that they take the path of least resistance unless there's a good reason not to.

Simply put, I'm arguing from a place of "enthusiastic consent is necessary", while you are not. Therefore, I believe Tranquil cannot consent. Our opinions differ on a base level, so, while I usually hate to say this, it might be best to agree to disagree, since this is certainly not the right place for this discussion.

Fair enough. I'm arguing that emotion isn't intrinsic to consent (not that consent isn't necessary), but I suppose that's neither here nor there.

It is basically confirmed that there will be some form of character creator for Hawke.

People are saying this, I've noticed, but Laidlaw's actual words were, "If we brought back previous characters, you'd have a chance to change their appearance."

That certainly doesn't promise anything like a character creator.

I can't recall off the top of my head where I saw it, but I remember someone (on twitter, I think?) saying that we would be able to customize our Hawkes. :)

Laidlaw's comment that I mentioned was actually from twitter. But they certainly may have made a comment I missed.

I know the comment you are referring to, and it was before the one I'm thinking of. There was no explicit mention of "character creator" but I do remember for sure hearing we could customize our Hawkes.... My memory is too bad to remember who said what though, so I would have to ask twitter regulars (or Hrungr) if they remember, so just ignore me for the moment. :P

I might be completely wrong though. (It wouldn't be the first time!)

I asked in the twitter thread, so maybe someone can set me straight either way.

if I were feeling nitpicky I'd claim that that still isn't a confirmation of a character creator, but I'm not. Works for me! :)

Hrungr said that was one of the confirmations, so there were apparently more. I think it is safe to believe. :D
