How many appreciate that news

A whole lot of players, I'm sure. I know I do.

Indeed, it's good to know that DA2 has more significance to DAI than just Anders sparking the mage rebellion. Having Hawke play a big role gives a lot more importance to our time and effort spent playing DA2.

Furthermore, it also adds more significance to the whole Cassandra/Varric interactions in DA2.

All in all, this is a _good_ thing.

To you, yes.

To others, it is merely the cameo of an NPC they didn't particularly like.

I thought about it, and if we don't get another "Hawke said Sarcastically/Aggressively/Diplomatically" line from Varric, I'm going to be rather disappointed...

When I first started seeing Hawke in the trailers I immediately thought of Corypheus.

I have mixed feelings about Hawke being so deeply involved in the plot of the game. I did love my Hawke and enjoyed him/her, but I feel that their story is done at the end of DA:II.

Hmm, I disagree. The frame for DA2's narrative is that Cassandra believes Hawke is the one person that can ease the current mage/templar chaos, so she captured Varric to try and interrogate Hawke's location out of him (along with the story of what happened). So in my mind Hawke has always still had an important role to play in the new disorder of the world.

I imagine Hawke's role is centered around the exalted march expansion that got absorbed into DAI.

I wonder if Hawke is the character the Devs were talking about when they said you could flirt with someone?

Flirting with snarky Hawke has always been one of my fantasies.  :D

Meh, I don't mind Hawke.

One of the problems with DA2 as presented was that the world state after DA2 felt set in stone before the game began.  Therefore Varric telling the story is exactly how it played - a narration of something that already happened, and Hawke only being able to pick choices that never actually influenced anything.  I don't fault the character for it, just the poor storytelling!

Still, I am wondering about Flemeth and her words to Hawke.  "We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly".  The plummet into the abyss has not happened until the end of DA2 (Qunari attack is hardly such event).  So yes, I think Flemeth's prophecy has not yet come true.  So Hawke's presence in DAI should be expected.

I liked Hawke, but I'd rather have Shepard on the team.

Good news for everyone Because We all are Hawke. Except someone who hate him/herself.

I can't imagine how i feel if Hawke can flirt Inquisitor for a bit :P

I sure hope he can succeed this time. A normal fellow could have taken a bottle with all the difficulties Hawke faced in DA2.

NPC is usually saved for "non-playable characters".
Hawke, I'm pretty sure, was playable, because that was the main character.
You were Hawke. Hawke could be customized, thus being an extension of you.

I don't understand how someone couldn't like a character that they made.
But that's me. I can see how some people would wish the DA2 story to be over,
but apparently, the writers decided that it isn't. Maybe Hawke will be more likable
to those that dislike the character.

So, are we sure we will play Hawke? When the Inquisitor is gone?

If so, then I think this is great news. Not so much for Hawke's return, but for how they have implemented it.

Brilliant.

I don't like DA2 and thus I don't particularly care for Hawke either, but this is still great news.

I would literally have an aneurysm of sheer joy if I could romance my sassy gay Hawke and keep him in my party.

Gross. Hawke needs to stay gone. Hawke is a little better than the warden, but neither of these characters matter to me.

i have no problem Hawke cameo, the only problem ive got is that Warden is almost completely ignored, The quest and story you will receive will probably end up as a wild goose chase. Bioware have said story wise that Hawke is important and I agree on that point, but I don't see that the warden could have an involvement there to. they could easily fit the warden in the storyline. it would certainly fit the Ending of DA2 if it was that case.

Not only will Hawke play a "significant role," but we will play as him/her as well. Do you really believe BioWare would let us CC his/her appearance for just the occasional cameo or appearance? We are going to take control of him/her for sections of the game. It will be interesting to see how BioWare ties this all together.
