The Middle Ages lasted from the 5th to the 15th century, while the transition from Old English (which is more similar to modern Icelandic than to modern English) to Middle English happened in the 11th century (after the Norman conquest in 1066), and the transition from Middle English to Early Modern English happened sometime in the 15th century, the USA was formed in the late 18th century, in any case the British accent and vocabulary are more fitting to a Medieval setting than the American accent and vocabulary are.

No they are not.

The modern English accent would sound just as weird to Middle English speakers and an American one.

Also Thedas is not the Middle Ages of our Europe. I'm pretty sure there weren't Dragons or magic in Saxony in the 1500's. Nor were there countries named Fereldan or Antiva.

I don't know, but if the British female voice sounds too much like Traynor's in pitch, I will likely wind up opting for the American one. I liked Traynor and thought her voice fit her quite well, but I like a deeper-pitched voice for my female protagonists. However, when I do a mage run, I might go back to the British voice.

I think male American accent is more ment for dwarf/Qunari Inquisitiors...especially Qunari since they do have deep and rough voices.

I'm picking American accents (Jon Curry) for my main Male Qunari (Vashoth) Inquisitor. I also think the British accents are amazing, and Alix has really outdone herself so I'm thinking of using it for my next run as Female Elf or Human Inquisitor.

In the German "Voice Version", we just get a young and a old Voice Variant. Nothing like an Austrian Accent or something.

Even as I prefer the German Voice of Varric (Tilo Schmitz aka Gul Dukat from Deep Space Nine or Teal'c from SG1 etc. etc. etc) over the english one, I will definitely go with the english VO, when I do the Initial Default DA:I World State Playthrough.

The younger german Male Voice Over is done by René Dawn-Claude - which does not mean anything to me sadly. I never watched any Cartoon or TV Series he did.

The german speaking Site Dragon-Age-Game has a nice list of the already known german Voice Actors:

A very good Selection of VA this time IMHO

AWR for fem!Qunari. No doubt. I loved her as Ser Cauthrian and Samantha. I don't care if a British Qunari breaks lore, I'll find some way around it.

The others I'm not certain about, but it's shaping up like this:

Male Human: British

Female Dwarf: English

Male Elf: English

Considering your qunari is not from the Qun and was born outside of it. You could have easily lived and been raised in fereldan hence the british accent and joined up with a Merc band some time later. So nothing lore breaking about it plus the dwarf racial option was born on the surface if I recall hence why british is also an option for them.

Its like Rhys having a orlasian accent since he was raised there but his mother and father are from fereldan

I wish they introduced all inq voice actors/actresses and showed us all inquisitor's voice choices equally. We still haven't heard Sumalee's voice properly. But with this little what I heard and know of her voice acting before, thinking to use her for my female dalish. Wondering how that will work.... :D

American, definitely. My first language is German and I've never liked British English and all of its accents, American English just sounds much better to me.

Can I pick the male british voice for my Female Inquisitor?

Unfortunately, no.

And that makes me sad.

e: Probably American for my female human. I know it's not the 'right' one, but they give us a choice for a reason. And of course, if it's really Nyreen from ME3's Omega DLC that just gives me even more incentive.

Whichever will suit my character best, which will be whichever of the female voices is deeper and less soft. It's sounding like that will be the American one, which might ultimately not be my preferred accent, but eh. Accent's much less important to me than tone and demeanor, and since my first character is planned to be a Dalish elf, the American accent works well enough lore-wise (since there is no Welsh accent, and they mostly seemed to have American accents in DA:O).

Seems like they neglected elves with no Irish or Welsh accents. Humans, Dwarves and Qunari all got native accents.

I was going with the British female accent but after seeing all the gameplay videos I'm not so sure now. I like Alix voice but I didn't like the way a few lines were delivered. I think it's going to be a in the moment kind of choice, after I hear the voice samples in CC and see which one goes better with my Inquisitor's face.  :P

Alix Wilton Regan for my female elf. I just really like how it sounds.

Yeah, I'm with pinkytwist on this one. I'm gonna have to wait till I'm in the CC to know what I'm going to go with. It'll depend on what goes best with the specific inquisitor I make. Leaning toward American accent at the moment though.

I really like the way the British voice actor sounds in the trailers, he's perfect for my no-nonsense, mage-exterminating templar.

I was never too crazy about the voices for Hawke or Shepard, so it's refreshing to finally have one that I don't mind listening too.

I actually like the male American voice.  I plan to use it for my male qunari.  I think I'm gonna use the British female voice for my elf inquisitor, the American female voice sounds a little too tough for the character I'm going for.  I think the female American voice would go well with a qunari as well.
