I only preorder with Bethesda.
Otherwise I generally wait for release and reviews from friends or trusted sources. More often than not I'll just stick a game into my wishlist and wait for a sale to pop. Even moreso now that I have Alien: Isolation and Beyond Earth to play.
I do have a nice shiny 25% discount voucher sitting at greenmangaming I could use though, and it's actually got me thinking about it. 45 bucks for a band new AAA game is pretty nice. Specially an rpg that one can sink a lot of hours into.

haven't preordered and might stick to this, but will buy the game in a shop on releasedate nonetheless, just to be able to play asap.
It's wierd. Decided to play on PS4. I would have preordered, but the PS4 Shop keeps telling me the releasedate will be november 21,
while I'm pretty sure the correct date (for germany in my case) will be november 20th. Just one day, I know, but whats the matter of preorder, if
I can't get it as fast as possible. I'm much too hyped to wait that one day, while knowing I could play it instead.

I never pre-order any game.Simple reason is that I like to see some game review after game release so I don't bump my head against floor.
So will I buy game "Yes" will I pre-order "No".

I preordered back in July if I recall correctly. I have been keeping an eye on game play videos and I am fairly certain it will at least avoid many of the blunders DA:2 had for me. DA:I for all intents and purposes looks to be a great blending of the few parts I did like about DA:2 and DA:O.
I did play ME3 and that game was absolutely wonderful, and actually it too had a perfect blending of customization and rpg elements from ME1 and the combat systems from ME2. Its only downfall for me was the exceptionally lame ending so if anything ME3 played a reverse role for me preordering this game, because I remembered the amazing experience leading up to the last fifteen minutes of that game heh.
DA:I looks to be exceptionally massive in scale in comparison to its predecessors. I am really excited for a true open world experience and so far from what I have observed in the gameplay videos I think I will be quite entertained with this game.

Had it pre-ordered for quite sometime now. Haven't cancelled yet, nor will I. I'm actually really looking forward to DA:I.

I don't know what to do right now... I have a preorder for a physical copy; a month ago I was excited about Inquisition. But when I started to visit the forums again for recent news... it has been one slap after another:
-No attribute allocation.
-No Warden/Hero of Ferelden.
-Hawke.
-No auto-attack outside tactical cam.
-8 active restriction.
-Loot centered.
I love the franchise despite the Dragon Age 2 fiasco, but right now I have serious doubts.
Sooo, yes, I'm undecided.

I preordered because quite frankly that's what I do with games I want. I learned my lesson well a few weeks ago not preordering Smash Bros, couldn't find it anywhere for weeks, hell I just gave up on it and now am moving on to Inquistion in a few weeks.

Yup, I have. As an avid mage who were blood mage+spirit healer, lack of healing spells and no spirit healer spec is a big deal breaker for me, If I knew it, I would had waited more.
And Knight enchanter having the only healing spell of the game is another bummer...that's a class I would never play. I see myself role playing an anti mage templar rather than a knight enchanter. And if we add the 8 skills max on toolbar and the no attribute allocation on level up ... My hype train got a horrible halt the day I learned this.
And no, I can't back up on the preorder, I did it in origin by using paypal, so there is no refund. At least the game in my region wasn't expensive.

Haven't pre-ordered a game in years, I'm reluctant to do so for reasons. However the more I hung around the DAI section and saw all the streams and vids Bioware released my hype grew. Pre-ordered my DE version a few weeks ago, don't regret it.

Do I like the 8 abilities restriction?
No. More like hate it with burning passion, I don't need MMO-style restrictions in my single player games because of an arbitrary "balance" decision, or because the console-makers prefer hampering everyone else to making their product better and on par with an average PC.
Mike Laidlaw has said this many times, the 8 abilities slot was to make the game more challenging making you need to prepare before you rush off to combat. and PC DA:2/DA:O and console could use every ability they had unlocked not just 6. so they could have obviously done that in this one too but they chose to take it from all players for the exact reason i previously said.
Now to the OP. i pre-ordered from amazon on april so i could just get it day1 at my door when i come home from work. makes life easier.

Nope, I pre-ordered back in June and haven't changed my mind yet.
There have definitely been a few things announced that I'm not crazy about or things that make me a little more hesitant, but nothing is a deal breaker yet. I love the franchise as a whole a heck of a lot, so it'll be hard to put me completely off. Hopefully I don't end up getting bitten lol. ![]()

I have watched a hell of a lot of videos as well as done a hell of a lot of research. I quite possibly have watched all the gameplay videos and have read info on Inquisition from many sources. I can tell you, with every video I watch and every article I read, whether about customization, skyhold, or even the Co-op, I get even more impatient for this game. The second I can I plan on playing it. I haven't preordered yet due to money problems but I will very sooon. I know exactly what I want and almost exactly what to expect and I almost guarantee I will not regret this preorder unlike for other games like ME3 or more recently, Shadow of Mordor (for specific reasons that aren't really relevant).

No. I've had the game preordered on two consoles since this time last year. The more I see, the happier I am that I preordered so early (not to mention it gave me a year to pay the games off). The 8 ability limit won't affect how I play since I've only used 6 abilities for a long time (my mouse has 6 number buttons and I'm lazy). I am a bit concerned about auto attack, but I tend to press R a lot to loot and attack anyway, so it might not be much of a change for me. I'm only annoyed that I'll be moving around the time of release.

about to pre order deluxe edition. frankly there isn't really anything else on the pc for rpgs so even if it isn't ZOMG BEST GAME EVVVAAARR!!! it should still be a good time sink. I don't actually like the witcher series so there is very little on the rpg horizon for me other then this. pillars of eternity is still a ways off.
also not sure what the deal is with people herp derping about the 8 abilities. as a rogue and warrior I rarely ever used more then 8. certainly not in one battle. many of the rogues abilities were redundant and could have been merged. mage I can possibly see as an annoyance, but again there was a fair amount of fluff that could be cut out.
with gear customization seeming like more of a big deal in DAI its going to be important to either specialize or have a boat load of crafting supplies to swap around. my mages will focus on 2 elements and their specialization and call it good.
