I preordered at Gamestop for PS4    months  ago, and I'm very happy.  DA:I  will be an awesome game.

No, I preordered the game sometime ago and I don't regret it (and will not regret it) at all.

Normaly people do the same in real life.

you dont bring a canon to a knife fight.

if your a seal you use your wepaons of choice to prepare.

the design choice they went for allows a more tactical/strategical approach which I guess wont be for everyone.

However it make sense for Bioware since they do all these options to choose the story its in their thinking already to do such and have such options for combat also..

You are missing my point entirely, this is not about choosing between a pistol and a rifle, this is akin to starting a fight with an assault-rifle in your hands, and suddenly in the next fight, not knowing how to use it on full-auto.

If my mage has learned a dozen combat spells, there is no reason in the world for him to get stuck in the middle of a fight because he forgot to "slot" it.

I get why an MMO like The Secret World for example has to use a similar system, but this is a single player game for pity's sake.

This is a game mechanic that breaks immersion in the worst way possible.

This is not some crappy anime, and breaking the fourth wall should be left to games like borderlands.

Not too long ago I was rather adamant about not pre-ordering DA:I, mainly because of how I allowed myself to get hyped and therefore fell flat on my face with both DA:2 and ME:3 (each for different reasons).

However, after seeing gameplay footage on quite a few videos, and seeing the work that was put into the Keep, I changed my mind.

Am I being an irresponsible consumer yet again? I don't know.

Am I happy that I can't create my female qunari blood-mage, the ultimate outcast Inquisitor?

Hell no!

Do I like the 8 abilities restriction?

No. More like hate it with burning passion, I don't need MMO-style restrictions in my single player games because of an arbitrary "balance" decision, or because the console-makers prefer hampering everyone else to making their product better and on par with an average PC.

Romance prospects for the hetero male PC, seem... less exciting than they were on Mass Effect for example, and while I don't regret not seeing unrealistic overly sexualised female characters that perform EVA in space wearing a catsuit and a breather mask, I think a happy medium could have been reached.

That said, the game still has the benefit of doubt on this front, since we saw very little of these aspects.

And lastly, there is also the possibility of yet another annoying or disappointing ending to DA:I, it's rather trendy these days unfortunately.

Still, even with all that in mind, I don't really regret (yet, hopefully never) preordering the seemingly overpriced digital deluxe edition of DA:I on origin, because what I saw on those gameplay videos and on the Keep, seems to me like a genuine attempt to make the ultimate dragon age game yet, and for that alone I think that bioware deserves the extra money and the trust of that are included in pre-ordering the DDE.

What do you think?

8 ABILITIES RESTRICTION??? WHERE WAS THIS MENTIONED??

Err... That's kinda old news already.

And the restriction is on 8 *active*, meaning in your hotbar, available to use in middle of the battle.

In my case, it was the other way around.

I was pretty sure I would preorder the game, I was (am?) a big Bioware fan, but the more I saw of the game, the more I realized: "Yeah, not bad, but definitely not the game I hoped it would be."

I'll probably get the game one day, but I won't spend 60€ or 70€.

Yes you can only have 8 abilities per party member in the hot bar so you have to change hot bar set ups depending on situations, I hope there is a way to store say 3 hot bar settings so you can quickly switch them otherwise its an immersion breaker.

I think restricting to 8 abilities is a great idea; it's similar to spell slots and the limiting of abilities in the BG games. It's certain to make the game more tactical and it will lead to player's playing the game in a much more varied way even with similar character builds. I don't see how it could possibly break immersion since it isn't likely you'll be swaping abilities every fight. I also think the approach to healing could be great as well since it seems to be channeling the Dark Souls mechanics (which is a lot of fun). In the end I think combat will be more difficult, but ultimately more rewarding and satisfying.

I am conflicted about order, from retail I can get only PC standart edition, while on Origin I have to pay +30 euros, it´s quite discrimination that I can´t only for PC find Deluxe edition while the console sells in region have that oportunity, and it´s even cheaper than on Origin.

My question for those who pre-ordered via Origin online store: If you are from Canada, did they charge in Canadian dollars? And did they add tax? Because when I spoke to an EA rep, I was told tax is included in the 69.99 price for the DDE, and that I would get charged in Canadian dollars. Also got a 15% discount which I hope I can use on the pre-order to reduce the cost more. If only I knew whether the dde items would be added via an upgrade after release, I'd go GMG for the 25% off even with currency change.

I'm not pre-ordering or buying this game until I get a PS4, which is probably not until next year. Can't afford them. Both are too expensive. I refuse to purchase Inquisition on last gen.

Since the pc-version is only a download away, I don´t see a reason for me to pre-order the game to play on day one. I`ll wait for let´s plays and reviews.

Yes. At first I was gonna wait for a complete edition, but I visited a friend and she got me all excited about it again :P

However, now that I can't get a physical deluxe edition, I am somewhat contemplating on waiting again.. But Ill probably cave in anyhow, I just need to know if my PC can handle it though. Cause with a physical copy I can atleast resell if my computer can't handle it, and since I don't have internet on my Game PC it's a bit tricky.. Don't want to gamble really, especially since it's gonna cost 70 euro's.

It's also not my PC and I plan on moving out rather sooner then later, so theres that.

Nope. I knew I was gonna pre-order this game before it was even announced. Haven't changed my mind since, this is basically the only game I've been waiting for since ME3.

I've preordered on Xbox One. Haven't regretted it once.

The streams they have been showing scream confidence in the product and they've invested a lot of time and effort into this one, I personally think it'll be the best Bioware game to date for WRPG fans.

I don't see what this has to do with what I said. No matter how much times you need to swap and slot, you still artificialy "forget" some of your abilities.

You want more challenge? Make the enemies smarter, give them more abilities; throwing in artificial restrictions is simply the easy way out.

Dragon Age magic system is different than the DnD one, and thank the goddess for that.

Mana point system makes much more sense than the needlessly over complicated DnD magic system.

but magic aside, your warrior is also going to forget how to throw his chain of doom, assuming you decide to slot something else, despite the fact that he knows how to do it and actually bought this skill.

I pre-ordered it as soon as I was able to.

My father, on the other hand, was a vocal hater of Dragon Age 2, and claimed that BioWare had completely broken his trust and that they would basically have to deliver a perfect experience with Inquisition to make up for it. He said he would wait for reviews before sinking money into it.

...He's pre-ordering as well.

I'm gonna wait for people's reactions to this game to see if it's good or not.
One of many things Bioware should fix for all their recent games is the abundance of fetch quests. They seriously have no positive side and should be gone. That's just a lazy way of filling in content and stretching out the length of the game.

If DAI still has loads of fetch quests and reuses same maps over and over like DA2, I'm gonna pass.

With all due respect to Mr. Laidlaw (which I actually like after seeing dem videos. cool stuff), I don't wan't to change my "spell / skill loadout" before a fight, I simply don't consider something like this a fun activity.

People said it before me: Should my Warrior simply forget how to shield bash, my Rogue how to backstab, and my Mage how to throw a fireball between one fight to the next? That the sort of immersion breaking stuff really grates on my nerves, especially when "balance" is arbitrary really, and after taking out the supposedly biggest enemy of balancing - infinite healing, there shouldn't have been such a burning need to restrict and nerf even further.

this is a game, not real life where you might remember every move. I have two hands in call of duty why can't i just pick up a shovel and whack someone with it? but i am restricted to only using a gun and a knife. they do this to have the game be played how they want. Why can't i use a broom as a weapon in Skyrim? i'm supposed to be free to be the warrior i want to be? In DA:O why are some cloths class restricted, both my characters are male, why can't i wear his plate armor? you don't see much realism in games and even when you do, they are plenty restrictive.

Games have restrictions. To simply put it, you don't always get what you want. be happy for what you have.

What if people don't do lets plays and get lost in the immersion of the game then you hear about people going to rehab due to the addiction of DAI lol

No, I didn't change my mind. I didn't preorder so far, and while I know that I can practically preorder on Origin at no risk, I'm just feeling too meh about the game to be arsed at the moment. I'm not fond of the lack of cities, the static NPCs, the active ability limit, the handling of attribute increases and especially the combat animations and effects. I'm sure I could overlook most of that if BioWare delivers an outstanding story... but no way to know that now.

In my eyes, Call of duty games are not an example for good video games, and so I don't care much about what is happening there.

Making video games is not a charity, it's business; and like with any other type of business, as a consumer you are allowed to say what you'd like to see in the item or the service which you are buying.

Realism is good in video games up to a point. It's awsome, and it blows your mind when you encounter something that makes you say: "Wow! I never would have gussed that it would be possible to do that!"

You don't need a reason why *not* to throw artificial restrictions, you need a good reason to use them. And sadly, I don't see a good reason here.

Balance can be solved in other ways.

They have presented a good reason though. they have said many times this game is supposed to be more challenging that is why the difficulties are supposed to be ramped up, and they have taken away the OP healing spells. and so they restricted us to make it more challenging, making us need to know which powers work with what teams, all together we have 32 powers in the group, and so we have 32 powers to make our perfect set up.

And talking about realism in a fantasy game where dwarfs can backflip 10 feet in the air is ridiculous.

And yes its a business and so is Call of duty which is one of the most successful games in history yet still has restrictions. so in your own arguments even games with incredibly successful markets have restrictions.

also i'm not saying its a good game(Black ops 2 being the only one i ever enjoyed) but it is one of the most successful franchises in history and has restrictions.
