Just as the title says who else would want a narrator for the codexes? I like reading and all, but when I play games I have no interest to pause the game (kinda) to read it. So why not ad a narrator that reads the codexes from the background while you explore more, (you can toggle it on or off) you have to open the said page to make the narrator read it.

I myself would really love to have this in the game either as a DLC or a patch.

As a narrator I would suggest Morgan Freeman cause of his awesome yet calming voice.

Others: Varrics voice actor, Gilbert Gottfried

Would have a female narrator as well but cannot come up with one for the moment

Suggested VA: Fran Drescher

You could toggle it on or off in the menu if you do not want it

So anyone else want this? Or am I the only one??

Sorry for bad english

I wouldn't really like something like this.

Maybe if it was an option that could be toggled on and off maybe  :)

Well I DID suggest it cause I knew at least all would not like it... but you gotta admit it would be a nice change of pace  ^_^

They did this with ME, not all of the codex entries were narrated but some were. I would like to see it but in the end I could care less because I enjoy reading codexes.

Yup some were narrated but were they in the background when you explored? I cannot remmember. Either way well see if they add it later on and happy reading  :D

Playing in the background, sign me up.  It's ok reading them but after a while I'm just mostly skimming through to get back to the gameplay.  If you can pick them up and have them playing the background that would be amazing, but a lot of work obvioisly.  I envision it sort of like the phonoboxes or phonograms or whatever they are in the bioshok games.

Stopping from playing a gorgeous, action-packed game to read something long simply hurts the pace. I do it if the thing is really interesting and not so long, but I prefer if they can keep it short and if they have voice acting involved, so the pace isn't hurt so much. I loved Kojima style in the 90s, but now I think presentation and pace have a bigger weight.

I'd rather just read the codexes myself. I can read faster than it would take to listen to someone else read them and also, it seems natural for my PC to stop and read something that she picks up (like a book or note) when she's looting or whatever  ^_^ but it'd seem weird to hear some booming voice read the note/book to her.

This would be a disaster. I *loathe* it in ME. I read considerably faster than the codex entries, and thus it always creates a massive amount of dissonance for me that just means i never go near the codex.

There's also the issue that DA's codex is entirely comprised of in-game documents written by specific individuals, not some kind of database narrated by one guy.

I wouldn't want an additional voice on their budget, so no.

Nope, No.

I don't get why people are so against this. You know you can just mute the TV or lower the volume?

I always got impatient when listening to the spoken codexes in mass effect, the guy read too slow and I couldn't read it myself while he was still babbling on 5 sentences back.

Maybe if you could toggle it but idk it's not something i'd be excited about.

I would love to see something like in mass effect. The major codex entries are read by a voice actor and the less relevent ones are left to reading. For those who want to go more in depth. As a voice actor I could't see anyone else than Varric's do this. He has already narreted one adventure and he is a storyteller in the universe so it makes sense.

Mike Ladilaw would havea  good voice for that, but it's not in his job description.

Who did narrate Mass Effect Codexes?

I really liked the Narrator for the Mass Effect Codec, i just wish he did them all and not just the major ones. It would have been great to be able to play these while playing instead of having to stay in the codec menu. Id love this but i agree with some of the others that it should be an option and have a toggle.

I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if BioWare's wallet suddenly cried out in terror and was suddenly silenced.

Not here for it because the codexes are currently the only part of the game where large amounts of info/exposition can be conveyed without a voice budget constraint. Add voice to that and you have another area where things will be stripped down, unless they do it ME style, which I honestly didn't see the point of, but wouldn't be opposed to.

Edit to clarify: I'm against it because it seems like it would limit their ability to convey lore, not because I wouldn't use it. I wouldn't, but I can see the merits of it from an accessibility standpoint.

I really hate a voiced codex. I read much much faster than the narrator speaks, and so I have to mute my game every single time I want to read a codex entry in ME. It got to the point where I just gave up until I picked up enough entries to be able to read/mute in one run.
