Only if you could cancel it by pressing 'x' or something. I read a LOT faster than the narrator in ME and that got fairly annoying. It'd be a nice feature though for those who have trouble reading though.

If the codex is ever voiced have it be voiced in character ie Genetivi, Petrine, Ines ect.
Kingdoms of Amalur did it with the Lore stones.

Though I have to admit, I do sometimes read out codex entries out loud myself.

is it too hard for some people to read? i don't like the idea
For some people, it is in fact difficult, which is why I would (given an infinite budget) support that for accessibility reasons. I am "lucky" in that I have auditory problems but subtitles are provided for me. Multiple ways for people to access information is never a bad thing in theory.

I would love this, and I'm a voracious reader. I think extra options are very welcome.

I would be very happy with this idea. I love the lore, and sometimes I stop playing to eat. It's nice to listen to the codex while doing something else. I especially love to listen while exploring. Kingdoms of Amalur let you do this with their Lore stones.

Happy you like it ![]()

The thing about you companions reacting to the codexes was interesting. It would be cool if they did that. It could offer some very interesting and uniqe companion talk.
And the thing about the narration is that you wont read it yourself, cause reading it when someones talking is annoying I agree, but that was not the point I wanted to make, the point was that you do not have to read it yourself the narrator reads it for you in the background (though reading it youself as well is optional to you)
This is a part of why I don't want narration. I want to read it, I don't want to listen to it. There's also the fact that I, like several others in this thread, read faster than the narrator.
If they ever implement this there has to be a toggle. In ME I had to take off my headphones every time I looked at the codex entries and it got annoying really fast. It even made me skip over some codex entries.

In my first playthrough in the DA games, I read a very little the codex entries, at least to have ideas if there is any involvement for some quests. It was never appear (or almost). If you want a narrator, I don't mind but I hope that, if Bioware implements it, they add a toogle in order not to have to hear it.

There would be a toggle off and on option in the menu for all that do not want it

Well to stop and pick something up is not breaking the flow since it is part of the fun to find them, but it is just that to stop and read it that bothers me. I just never read them. And by font and size you talk about the text size right just to confirm? Casue that would be good as well.
(sorry swedish one here no native english speaker)
This discussion is getting fun

Yes, by 'font size' I meant 'text size'.

Maker, no. That is the one thing I found really annoying in ME. I waited until I got a bunch of them and read them all at once with the sound on mute. It went much faster that way. I hope this is never part of the DA experience.

I would rather they spent their resource elsewhere, like body slider, more voice options for PCs....etc

If they did that, the only logical people to read it back to you would be Varric or Leliana. Also, I read a little quick, so, it would have to be like they are reading it a little quicker..not telling a story from it....more of a matter of fact tone.
