Why didn't she just join with Shepard's mind to see if the Reapers were real, like Liara did? I mean... I just realized that's a giant plot hole right there...

She's basically Shep's boss, and that mind-meld thing is kind of like sex, from what I understand, so... yeah.

Actually, they had no doubt the Reapers were real in Shepard's mind, so that would have proved nothing they didn't already know.

I think it's a valid question/point.

Then the council might have had to actually concede to Shepard being RIGHT. We all know it took a Reaper-led invasion on the Citadel for THAT to happen.

*sigh*

The Beacon implanted visions in Shep's brain, he told the Council, they believed him. What they did not believe was that the Reapers were real, they thought the images were faked, and Shep was fooled by them.

Good point my man.

Yeah, they did just debate the actual plausibility of the return of the Reapers as opposed to the existence of Shep's vision. Seems that was never in doubt.

us three seem to keep running into each other.

I think the Asari Council member didnt do it because it would show favouritism, and to the Council, this was ONE out of MANY problems.

They might have thought the added effort was over-kill.

But even Liara said that the images were more intense than she would've imagined... even Shiala seemed surprised when she gave the Cipher to Shepard. And I think the images of war themselves would be enough. How could they be fake if the beacon put them there, even if it isn't known exactly what the images are?

Seems to me, if it's a matter of galactic concern, they should at least take a look...

We know they weren't fake, I think it's just that the council completely and totally refused to believe otherwise. Even if they saw the vision, they'd claim it as some tech that Saren was using to mislead Shep. IMO anyways...

Group? YES.

The Asari council-memeber MAY have fallen for Shep's "strong character" as well ;)

You try melding minds with a race of homocidal space-monkeys and tell me what you get out of the experience. :P

Well, if a human mind perceives something as the truth (because it hasn't been shown otherwise), it will be firmly convinced that it knows the truth. Add to that Shep's apparently extremely strong will...

(that doesn't make sense, does it.)

MIKE, SIG'D. That's one of the best definitions of mankind I've ever read.

Liara seemed to like her "Experience" lol.

Even so, there are good points being made...

There's also the possibility that, despite Liara's enthusiasm, the Asari view reading people's minds in that way as invasive and perverse. The meld to make a child is different, they're delving into the primal essence of your species, reading someone's personal thoughts might be something they just aren't comfortable doing. Even Shi'ala was only giving information, presumably she didn't actually try to read Shepard's mind, and if she did she would have seen my bullet coming.

Topic Necromancy + MASSIVE SPOILERS!!! on both ME1 and ME2

I think the Council are total idiots. I mean, dock workers (Powel's) testimony is not evidence enough. Yet a recording of Saren and Benezia is and they quickly strip the Spectre status of their BEST agent and assign you to track him down. Reports of Rachni on Noveria is evidence enough, reports on 50000 year old Thorian which is OLDER than the Protheans and enslaves minds (much like the indoctrination) is evidence, yet recordings of your suits on Virmire and Ilos , a pile of Reaper ship junk, testimonies of your multiracial crew is not!

She was hypnotized by the Turian councillor's excessive use of air-quotes.

I think it's to intimate to do it with someone you hardly know. i also agree with DPSSOC about the asari viewing it as invasive.
And, since they are politicians, we can all agree that they are idiots:D

EDIT: grammar mistake
