Spoiler

Ugh, now I just HAVE to craft Sera a plaidweave jacket, which I'm sure is possible for Rogues. If only we could get that in white for Vivienne, I'd keep the two on my team together from start till endgame (ignoring their seemingly hostile party banter in that trailer)

I felt the need to post this to try and salvage Vivienne's dignity:

The shape of it is actually really nice! Royale Sea Silk and Ring Velvet ftw

I'd assume so? Hats are part of armor, so they should also be craftable.

I noticed that Vivienne's under-armor clothing didn't seem to change, though, where the Inquisitor's did. Hmm.

I both liked and loathed it. Liked it because it's interesting, but loathed it because every single item in the game is inferior to Crafted Sword of Doom +6. Yes, even the legendary items pale compared to the might of Random Guy's Cobbled Together Sword.

I really hope Bioware avoids it, but not going to hold my breath.

That was more a consequence of being able to double or even triple the damage/armor of an item if you stacked enough bonuses in Skyrim, which isn't very good design if you ask me. In DA:I it seems like the materials you get decide the item's stats, and the materials can only get so high. My guess is that crafting could yield some of the best items in the game if you really take your time to delve in it, but it won't be too overpowered and to get said materials you will need to earn it by killing dragons or stuff like that, not make a thousand iron daggers then be able to turn a dull iron blade into a sword that hits harder than a Daedric warhammer.

You can see footsteps in the snow! I don't know why but that was just so amazing for me :'D

I was about to comment on the same thing!

We've seen that crafting room before, but this is the first time I've noticed that there is SNOW on the ground inside that room! I'm guessing that maybe the "stuff" that's falling outside isn't water from a waterfall, but perhaps snow being blown by the wind?

Anyway... I need this game now. Right now. This instant. Hello? Now?

If that was only it, yes. But Skyrim's got a lot of cases where weapons that outmatch any skill, human, elven or otherwise - are just terrible compared to crafted ones. The Daedric artifact weapons and armor were some of the best in the old TES games, but in Skyrim they pale to things you can just whip up. Quest rewards, especially legendary items, should actually feel like it.

Don't even get me started how absurd it is that you can just throw together "normal" Daedric items despite what the lore says.

Is this with or without using glitches to break the crafting system?

Oh yes, they certainly overdid that, no argument there. I felt more gated by crafting then anything else in skyrim, and that shouldn't be the basis of a game at all.

If they do it right, the best craftable sword will be something like a blade made of a super rare elven metal, hilt made of dragonbone, etc. IF that is the case though, i hope they do disassembling.

But what about the potion crafting? Blood Lotus for Jar of Bees, Antivian Fire and Tears of the Dead? And making Lyrium potions of Elfroot? That has to be before fixing the crafting, right? Because it's pretty boring and makes no sense.

I asked about this when we first heard about it and the ingredients that get used at the crafting table are the final ingredients.

For example, the Lyrium potion is still made of lyrium, it's just that the Inquisition gathers it for you (I believe there is even a little (advisor?) quest for that). The elfroot "is part of a curative base used to prevent the lyrium from going too toxic."

That sort of thing...

We get to finally change all the companions armor and weapons without needing to have them in the team. It's a small feature but I found it annoying that it wasn't included in DA2/ME3.

Oh man, that plaideweave is going to make me do awful things to my companions! Especially Dorian and Vivienne.

I predict future screenshots of UglyInquisitor and the Badly Dressed Inquisition. :P

You mean like salvaging looted/extant stuff for materials? I could have sworn there was a "salvage" option in one of the recent gameplay vids...

It would be great if you got schematics when you salvaged something, too.

They allready said that you cannot salvage ressources from armor or weapons. The reason for that is apparently that the materials aren't finite in singleplayer so you can just go out and find some more.

And you always get the schematics for something that you find. You just have to have found it and you can craft it yourself

I am so, so excited for crafting. Dressing up characters is just below the characters themselves in what I love in a game, and this system looks amazing and surprisingly not grindy. I mean, I imagine it will take a good deal of gathering and exploring to get all the materials and schematics, but that's fun for me. I'm just glad I won't have to chain my Inquisitor to a forge and pump out a million iron daggers in order to make anything worth having.
