It's not that bad, heavy armor for Mages is not end game. It depends on you actually, but if you want it, it's there.

 

Now, for weapons, i can see why someone would be bummed with weapon restrictions.

After seeing the video, I'll spend a lot of my time in crafting.

I think in one play through everyone should have a gaudy outfit. 

or have everyone match
