So I thought I'd just make a post about the stuff we know about the multiplayer so far, and then change the OP as we get more information.

  • Multiplayer will have no effect on the single-player campaign, and there are no multiplayer achievements.
  • Multiplayer is 4 player CO-OP party based adventure. No need to worry about PvP.
  • Multiplayer is free and available so long as you have access to internet and matchmaking (xbox and playstation users, this means you need xbox live and ps+)
  • There will be three multiplayer campaigns from launch.
  • Matches should be about 20-30 minutes.
  • Maps are randomly generated.
  • At the beginning of every mission one of the advisors will tell the players what their objectives are.
  • The level cap for characters is 20. Similar to the ME3 multiplayer, once a character has been brought up to the cap they can be promoted, which will reset the character back to level 1. In DAMP, promoting also means you earn another attribute point and you get something called Prestige points.
  • New characters can be unlocked by crafting their armour. Armour can be crafted, purchased, or found.
  • Like the ME3 MP, there will be a challenge system in place, and completing a challenge will allow the player to earn rewards. There will also be weekly operations as well as community challenges. The challenges are goals such as "Kill X amount of enemies with X type of weapon/class/damage." Community challenges are goals like, "Kill 1 000 000 Brutes by X time." If the community as a whole manages to reach this goal, then everyone is awarded a prize.
  • The first DLC for DA:I will be for the multiplayer.
  • All multiplayer DLC will be free.

Matchmaking:

  • You can create a lobby with only friends, or you can go into matchmaking and play with random people.
  • The game is not region-locked. So long as they are on your friends list, you are able to play with people from other countries. Otherwise, matchmaking will do its best to place you with people nearby in order to ensure the best possible ping/connection.
  • If you are kicked from the game for any reason (bad connection, need to leave right away), you will not lose any gold, loot, xp, or any other forms of progression.
  • If you are kicked from the game, you may be invited back into the same game right away, or if the lobby is open, you may join manually from your friends list.
  • If you lose a person in your game and they do not want to come back or are unable to come back, then you can either invite someone else to take their place or if the lobby is open, a random may drop in.
  • Just like in ME3, you are able to put a vote to kick on someone in the lobby. If there are 3 votes to kick on one person, they will be kicked from the lobby, and you will never be matched with them again (unless you invite them.)

Matches:

  • When you first begin the multiplayer, you will be given one free loot crate that will give you random starting gear.
  • There are three enemy factions: the Venatori, the Red Templars, and Demons.
  • As of now, we know that there is one difficulty level called "Routine." It is unknown whether this is "easy" or "normal." It is likely that there are harder difficulties.
  • In each map, there are 5 zones to get past. As you progress through each zone, the enemies will begin to get stronger (appropriate to your difficulty level.) In the final area you will have to defend against a "Commander" level boss from the faction that you are fighting.
  • Some classes will do better against certain factions and bosses--ex: a Templar will do much better against Demons.
  • Objectives, unlike in ME3, are optional and random. Completing them will merit more xp and loot, but they are not mandatory.
  • There are treasure rooms and shortcuts that can be unlocked by certain classes--warriors can break down and bash in walls, rogues can lockpick, and mages can dismantle barriers.
  • Shortcuts are not necessarily a good thing.
  • Some treasure rooms have guardians that must be defeated in order to access the loot
  • There are rest rooms or sanctuaries in between each new area, with a recovery font in the center. The recovery font will revive any fallen players and bring them back up to full health.
  • XP and loot is shared (although in the case of item loot, everyone will get an item, but not everyone will get the same item. If it is gold, everyone will get the same amount of gold).
  • One of the possible objectives is protecting and/or escorting a random NPC. Depending on the NPC, they may also help to fight. Barrier can be cast on the NPC.
  • You may map four abilities and four potions at one time (2 of each potion at max).

Death:

  • If you fall, then you can be revived by a teammate. While down, you may also crawl to a safer and more easily accessible place in order to be revived. If your whole team goes down, then it's a total wipe and you are returned to the lobby screen.
  • If you are not revived within the time limit, or you die more than three times, then you will be put into a spectator mode, or "Fade Mode". You will stay in the Fade until your surviving party members can make it to the next checkpoint, or they fall (in which case you wipe and are returned to the lobby).
  • For every team member that enters the Fade, enemies are granted a damage buff.
  • While in Fade Mode, you can highlight enemies and see their stats, strengths, and weaknesses, similar to the tactical camera in singleplayer mode.
  • You can also mark points on the map that you think your teammates should go to, or mark enemies that you think that they should attack.
  • You can also still talk to your teammates in party chat. You are just not able to interact with the physical world in any way.

Communication/Chat:

  • On console, chat is supported through first-party systems. On xbox consoles, this is party chat, and whatever the equivalent is for playstation.
  • On PC, there is push-to-talk, mic chat, and text chat support.

Characters:

  • The characters have their own backstories, and cannot be customized beyond their armour and skills.
  • There are currently 12 kits, with 4 characters per class.
  • We begin with three characters unlocked--The Keeper, The Archer, and The Legionnaire
  • All of the characters were written by Sheryl Chee
  • The characters will interact and banter with each other during play--they will even compliment one another if there is more than one of the same class in a lobby
