He said the mini map not the actual big size map pretty sure when going into the world map it is far more detailed at least from watching the livestream it was very detailed. I personally like fetch quests because it's similar to reality to me homework would be a fetch quest lol. The reward is a grade

The same most of us have been expecting... or really wanting, for a while now, though I agree it is an unfair expectation.
Most open world games (and mmorpg have been doing this for a while too) tend to fill their worlds up with, well, filler... as usual in this case the situation generally calls for quantity over quality. Still they fulfill their role well enough by padding the game and as long as other elements of the game (overall story, combat, ect) are strong I tend to tolerate them. After all, most of us probably adore RPGs and they have been a staple in them for a very long time, so it's nothing new (unfortunately).
The combat system looks enjoyable enough that I think I will actually not mind them here and I'm holding out hope that they won't get tedious too quickly. Still a tad bit annoying though to, effectively, have the grand inquisitor going around grabbing leaves for some random person's tea in the middle of a military campaign to save the world.

I can live with fetch quests if they don't become as annoying as ME3 with the whole game being full of creepily listening to people talk from afar, running off into some random system and coming back just to get like 10 war assets.

It was somewhat better than DA2 "find random item in spot X" and magically know the owners and where they are.

Yeah, I think Fetch Quests are okay as long as they aren't too excessive and there are other things to do. And if they have good flavor, they can be pretty cool, even.
Thank you for your impressions, OP.
Also, a thought:
So you say you had 2 spells mapped that were the same attack but had different cooldowns? So...does that mean that we can slot in an ability and get to use it more often, then? That's...weird. Although that may not be what you meant.

I'm still annoyed that some of ME3 fetch quest looked like actual side-missions

Yeah I agree fetch quests aren't the best, but if you're going to have a ton of side quests, a lot of them are going to be filler. Not everything you do is super important epic crap. Also optional and all that jazz. I don't mind them as long as they don't take over the game.

Fetch quest are okay as long as they have a fair amount of well done sidequest per area.
Sampling the game at a convention is not playing the game for real as you are so pressured for time that you don't even have time to figure out the tactical controls nor have time to access much aside of fetch quests before you.
It's like being offered a full buffet and just having time to grab some sausages and some dips.
If the game is all fetch quests I would be disappointed - but is that really the case here?

Yeah I highly doubt it. Seems like there is the same amount of normal quests, just a lot of fetch quests thrown in too.
We'll see in 18 days!

World:
The minimap was poor. It didn't show buildings, or roads, or any terrain. It was more like a radar. This became a problem when trying to locate quests markers, as more than once I would run to the location and find nothing there, or find that the marker was actually inside a building or up a hill that wasn't shown on the minimap.
I've seen the minimap in all of the demos and playthroughs... I personally am okay with what they did with the mini map. Glad they didn't pool a lot of resources into making terain and images in it,t hat's what the Map is for. I personally believe it just needs markers for npcs, markers, etc. The important things.

Fetch quests can actually work but they have to be done in moderation, and they really have to avoid the crap they did in ME3. Those fetch quests were a complete joke.

I was thinking about this as well. I've seen in other gameplay videos multiple slots filled with the same ability and wondered why.
If we can fill multiple slots with the same ability and have separate cooldowns for each, you'll have some interesting options tactically. Multiple Barrier spells for a support character? Multiple lockdown abilities? Multiple Fade Cloak (with Decloaking Blast upgrade)? Etc, etc...
Something to think about...

It´s still annoying as hell not having a feature that has been around for more than a decade (playing Morrowind these days, so guess).

Nice of you to tell us about your experience with the demo. A bit worried about those fetch quests, hopefully they serve a higher purpose than only to gain xp.
But I wanted to ask you one thing Direwolf0294, what is your overall conclusion about the game (or at least the demo)?

I don't mind fetch quest to be honest. I have played skryrim over 1000 hours and I'm still not bored of them. However it will probably be an huge amount of longer and more complex quests as well. The dialog options could be a problem, but I guess not every encounter can be 10 minutes long and full of moral choices. Thank's for the info! Looking forward to the game!

Considering how long this game is suppose to be Fetch quests are pretty much invetiable, that said at least they sound like they make sense for the situation, fetching blankets for Refugees and such.

If they brought back the tonal system (which I think they did) it could be that the character was a diplomatic character, and therefore speaks to people diplomatically by default. I know several tone neutral options in DA:II were said differently depending on what type of character you were playing.

You say 'a feature' as if its presence is clearly something that enhances a game.
Thief(1998) had only a crudely drawn map and no mini-map at all. And that was vastly superior to Thief(2014)'s detailed mini-map.

Dominant tone isn't present anymore, but most dialogues have three tones: Noble, Clever and direct.

Thanks for posting OP. Not anything new but it is nice to hear other peoples opinions.
I am not all that worried about fetch quests really. Bioware is famous for a well-developed story and I think fetch quests are only there to help drag you into the world while adding something to get you exploring with a destination and goal. I mean, if you are clearly an able adventuring party and you are seen by a healer who needs more blankets for her patients why wouldn't he/she ask you? I want to be helpful even if it is a simple quest. It's when you keep on getting fetch quests and you feel like you are doing little else (Skyrim often did this but it got me exploring so I was generally okay with it) in the world that it gets repetitive. Or if many of the fetch quests are nearly the same.
Thankfully, Bioware is usually excellent about fleshing even small quests out with interesting letters and the like. I do not expect it to be a problem but I can easily see when first entering an area being slightly overwhelmed by a large amount of seemingly small quests.
Thank you again for posting OP.
