The guy named Steve we see all the time.
surely you know this?
I can picture Vivienne, Cassandra, Cullen, or Leliana betraying my anti-Circle/anti-Chantry Dalish mage. I plan on making them butt heads throughout the game, so if they have the opportunity to sabotage her plans I'd like to see them try ![]()
It depends on how you play and freinship level im assumeing..

If he's actually a loyal Qunari and a spy, then I'll probably anger Bull sooner or later. I wouldn't think it'd play out like a betrayal though. Just disagreement. If I end up conflicting with Hawke on something, then I imagine his friend (Varric) will be pissed.
Vivienne, I think, if you and her become rivals.
But I wonder if my family - the Trevalyans - will take issue with me if I don't support the Chantry. I don't plan to as a mage. Will relatives be brought before my throne if they make trouble for me? The scene could be interesting.
"You stand accused of betraying your own blood. How do you plead?"
For some reason, I don't trust Vivienne at all. Orlesian Mage, hmm...sounds like an agenda waiting to stab the Inquisitor in the back!
Vivienne is at the top of my suspicion list. Cole seems pretty backstabby too but I think I'll be able to win him over if I help the mages.
The Inquisitor will betray the inquisition, not the other way around. ![]()
I think this could potentially happen from any of the companions depending on the choices the Inquisitor makes.
In particular though, act too evil and I can see Varric, Blackwall, or Sera betraying you for the good of the realm.
Not sure if that quote refers to all characters or just companions? If I was betting on betrayal in the former case, I'd place my money on Morrigan. We (the player) already know she has an agenda, and it's not like the Inquisitor is The Warden, who she may be loyal to as a friend/lover. There's no real reason (unless one develops in the game) for her not to stab the Inquisitor in the back, if it serves her grand plan to do so.
If companions only, then Iron Bull, maybe? We know he's still reporting back to his old bosses, so maybe his "information sharing" is less equitable than he's letting on. With the information we currently have (not much), I'm not sure who else in the party might pull out the back-stab knife. It'll be interesting to see how they develop this aspect in the game.
Who ever it is will you expect it?

Ahh, this topic is distressing. Wouldn't it be the worst if your LI betrayed you? I could see Cassandra betraying my Dalish mage, or maybe even Cullen.
I sus leliana ,cas and cullen (trio that will betray us in the end) as most likely they are forced but on top are viv and solas.
I think it'll vary based on your decisions and your relationships with characters. The Advisors can't because they're integral to the organization, but I suspect a companion might.
By the end of this game, one of you will betray me.
You know, I have a thought. I don't remember the name, but there's a Mother you're supposed to rescue at the very begining of the game, and you see her again in Skyhold.
She could be a secret mage who did it. Just a thought...
Varric.
He is positioned as Judas in that image of the Inquisition posed like The Last Supper. Also, I imagine that would come as a shock to most people as their impression of Varric is of Hawke's 'bro' in DA2. If you're going to have one of the companions be a traitor, you're going to want it be someone who is going to leave the player blindsided.
Cullen.
I'm very suspicious of Vivienne, personally. Iron Bull could do it if you don't convince him he's better off without the Qun. Sera might, as well. People bring up some interesting points about Varric, though--he's Hawke's best friend, not the Inquisitor's. Doubly so if the Inquisitor is a Qunari. If he had to choose between them there's no doubt in my mind who'd win. I'd be VERY interested in seeing the fanbase's reaction to "the number one bro" selling you out.
Non-companions? Morrigan, first and foremost. As someone said, her loyalty is restricted to herself, the Warden (if they're her lover/sister-friend), and her child. She has her own agenda and owes the Inquisitor nothing. I can easily see her allying with them for a time before turning traitor as soon as it's in her best interests. Her attitude might vary from regretful to "lol you fool", but she's still my prime suspect.
Besides her...not sure. Empress Celene, maybe, or another noble/royal.
Personally, I'm going to betray the inquisitor early to get it out of the way.
I'm thinking putting her in plaidweave with a huge floppy hat will do the trick nicely.
I thought more people would have said Iron Bull.
Dude switches voices like its nothing.
