If there's going to be a treacherous companion, it'd have to be someone mandatory. Otherwise, everyone would just not recruit them. So it would have to be Cassandra, Varric or Solas.
Who's going to betray the Inquisition?

Out of those three Varric is the only one that isn't a potential LI. More ammo for the Varric-is-Judas theory?

Well, Varric does seem to be developing a special interest in red lyrium... and was never happy about the Inquisition from the beginning...
Interesting.

If it turns out to be so and he is a treacherous **** its kind of funny. Like a simple line or two gave away one of the games major plot points/potential plot point.

Varric.
He is positioned as Judas in that image of the Inquisition posed like The Last Supper. Also, I imagine that would come as a shock to most people as their impression of Varric is of Hawke's 'bro' in DA2. If you're going to have one of the companions be a traitor, you're going to want it be someone who is going to leave the player blindsided.
^This.
Varric was Hawke's 'bro' and not the inquisitors, and for all the other reasons Han listed.

100$ says it's Vivienne.
I'll take that bet putting my money on Solas being the betrayer.

But the betrayal is not 100% guaranteed. It's only a possibility of betrayal, it's up to your character to behave a certain way for the betrayal not to happen, like with Zevran, or with people at the end of DA2.

I made a thread with the suggestion that a betrayer in the Inquisition would be happening, based on your Inquisitor's actions. Because it would mean great replay value and surprise elements. People opposed my idea with a massive major vote against it. So if this actually is implemented and people love it, then I cant wait to bump that thread with a "TOLD YOU!" ![]()
