If he's not dead, I will be happy to rectify it.

I know Conner did, but he was a special case. I also did mention that mages of voluntary possession do sometimes survive, but they are marked for life.

The problem with exorcism in Thedas, is that it most often isn't even an option (the mage is already dead), and the only way to do it, is to risk another mage in trying to set it right. What you did in Redcliffe Castle was an ENORMOUS risk, since if the amge sent into the Fade had been overpowered by the demon, then you wouldn't jsut be facing one Abomination, but two. A catastrophic outcome.

Their is that word again might happen, and risk which is a subjective term.

The reality is these decisions are about odds. In order to save a mage who is possessed (which may be impossible in the case of involuntary possession, I'm unclear on that), you have to risk 1) another mage, 2) the chance of 2 abominations, doubling the abomination power.

In the case of Connor, it's tactically worth the risk because of the war assets you need for the Blight. It's also, obviously, not emotionally fun to murder little kids, but that would not really be enough to justify another mage's life.

You can't enter the Fade "as a team." You could send a bunch of mages in, theoretically, though it takes a butt-ton of lyrium just to send ONE in for Connor, more than it seems to take for a normal Harrowing, (and it took 3/4 of the lyrium store and the blood of hundreds of slaves for Tevinter mages to map the Fade and make it to the Black City), but they wouldn't be together necessarily anyway (they might be but you can;t count on not being separated), and they'd all be at great risk. Plus, you'd run out of lyrium if you did this all the time. Plus, you'd weaken the veil. The solution just isn't practical.

The fact that the PC can do amazing things shouldn't make the fact that regular people in Thedas aren't doing them seem like morons or anything. It's easy to say, "Why don't they just do X" but really, the PC can only do these things because he/she is the PC. Wynne goes in for Pharamond, and I think there are a few other cases, but they are rare because of the extreme risk and the small likelihood of success.
