DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE GAME DAO UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT SPOILERS.

I'm doing Dragon Age Keep to recreate my history in DAO. I noticed some curious findings. This combination of events is not possible for some reason:

1 Morigan's ritual with Alistair => Morigan has an old god baby with Alistair

2 Alistair slays the Archdemon

3 Warden lives

The system checks indicate that for 1 and 3 to be true, 2 must be changed to "4 Warden kills the archdemon". To summarize, 1,2 and 3 are not a valid combination of events. Instead 1, 4 and 3 are valid. I am utterly confused by this.

The game indicates in cannon that the warden who does the killing blow is supposed to fuse his soul with the archdemon and die in the process. The game cannon in Morigan's words also say that only one who completes the ritual is protected from dying in the process.

Logic would follow, if the warden kills the archdemon while Alistair is the one who does Morigan's ritual, the warden should die in the process. That means 1, 4 and 3 should NOT be a possible combination of events despite Dragon Age Keep's system validation.

How do you make sense of this???

Actually, what Morrigan tells you is that if the DR takes place, the Archdemon's essence will be drawn into her unborn child, and no Grey Warden will die in the process.  It doesn't matter who slays the Archdemon (baby-daddy or no).  If you do the DR, there's not even a conversation with your GW companion on the roof -- The PC Warden runs off and strikes the killing blow whether they did the DR (if male) or Alistair/Logain did.

Hope this helps!  :)

If the ritual is preformed, the fetus (or, zygote, or whatever it is) is basically a flashing beacon of light. If it's preformed, the archedemon is instantly drawn to it, rather than the Warden; it doesn't matter if the warden is the father or not, since the archedemon's soul never enters their body.
