Has anyone found a general rule on priority order for squad mate dialogue based on whether you select them first or second? I just ran the Desponia mission and I am fairly upset that Liara, my LI, had so little to say. Even worse, it was Kaidan who came and grabbed Shepard at the end, not Liara. I am almost tempted to just run the whole mission again with Liara picked second rather than first.

I had Liara and Ashley on that mission and it was Ashley that helped me. I did pick her first and then Liara before the mission.
I usually pick whoever without giving much thought to who I pick first or second.

I thought it has to do with how many missions you did with the character. Like if you do 10 missions with Javik and one with James, the game will choose Javik for squad mate dialogue.

Did you lock in with Liara first? I've had Leviathan play out in a similar fashion before.

I'm locked in with Liara and pick her for every mission (this is an all-Liara-all-the-time playthrough).

That would effect who you talk with during the evacuation scene and who the third person is that exits the Normandy on the planet if you have a love interest. If you don't have a love interest, that squadmate you used the most will be in the third flashback

Oh okay, cause that happened to me in my last Tali-romance game. Did Leviathan right after the dreadnought, before talking to her in Shep's cabin, or on the Citadel; whichever one locks in the romance.

I feel like it's pretty random at certain times, but for the Suicide Mission in ME2, it does matter when you're trying to kill someone off on the Seeker Swarm or determining which squadmate pulls you up to the Normandy.

If I'm not mistaken, one of Ashley's lines on the Normandy depended on that. Also, good thing I always romance someone. Seeing Javik in the third flashback... LOL ![]()

For the bubble bit, it is not who you pick first or second. There is a priority order for who dies.

Did you try it again with another squadmate instead of Kaiden?
I don't know that this is the case with that particular mission, but in some missions certain squadmates are given priority as far as dialogue no matter what order they are selected in.

Hmm, maybe I just kept picking them in a order that made it seem that way. Coincidence, probably...

Or you could have anyone but Miranda do the bubble and take Miranda and whoever and that whoever always die regardless of the order. Of course if Jack and Samara are loyal and doing the bubble, both squadmates will live

Well, I just reran it picking Kaidan first and it still turned out the same way. So I am going to rerun it yet again, only I'll pick EDI. Or maybe Javik. It seems as if he would be unlikely to risk his neck to go grab Shepard. ![]()

That's good to know. Although Kasumi is so high up in the priority list, and her flashbang is so useful that I just end up picking her and whoever I want to die.

Moral of the story: Never take Kaidan anywhere.

EDI + Garrus on Grissom will always have EDI prioritize a lot of the dialogues. If you ever wanted to experiment with all characters, you could remove one squadmate using Gibbed or in-game console. That's what I have done to hear a lot of other dialogues...

I had him and James during Levaiathan, and I believe it was him that helped me. I didn't mind.

For Leviathan, if your love interest is there, they will help you and talk to you more. If your LI isn't there or you have no romance, I think it's the person who you are closer to. I think the game looks at relationship status for this, but that's just my guess.

Liara, James and edi will get first crack at dialogue because they are required squadmates whereas the others are not unless it calls for that particular squadmate to say something.

Unfortunately Samantha has no dialogue in the dlc.

Yeah, sadly. Maybe her VA was absent at the time of production, or they just didn't see her popularity rise until the Citadel DLC.

Yep I've taken those two on the final part of Leviathan as well, maybe Kaidan is prioritized over most of the others regardless?I had him and James during Levaiathan, and I believe it was him that helped me. I didn't mind.

This is the reason why Samantha and even Joker didn't get any dialogue in the Leviathan dlc
From Dusty Everman, Steve Cortez's character writer
It's costly to bring in a voice actor for just a couple lines. A session is a session, so you are basically paying for 150 lines even if you just record a couple. That's why we can't just throw in lines willy-nilly on the Normandy. Since Cortez was part of the main missions, we were able to add some Normandy banter lines too, but Traynor wasn't, so we couldn't "sneak" in any Normandy lines for her. That's also why you don't get more Joker lines. Seth Green is more famous, and thus earns a higher salary.

Well, that didn't work with a Kaidan+Liara combo. Kaidan was prioritized even though Liara was my LI.
I reran the mission with Liara and Javik and, as I suspected, Liara came out and grabbed Shepard at the end. I knew Javik wouldn't risk his neck to save Shepard.
Also, Liara got most of the dialogue this time. So, at the very least I would say the priority for dialogue on this mission is Kaidan>Liara>Javik.
