Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm having a problem trying to get companion armor upgrades in Act I. I'm trying to get the upgrades for Varric and Aveline from the Apparel Shop and Armor Stand, and they don't show up in the shopkeeper's inventory. I have checked the armor icons on the character sheet and all the slots are blank, so I haven't already bought them without knowing it.
Any ideas on why this would be?
Are you certain you have looked at the correct tab in the vendor inventory?
Yes, I've looked at all the tabs. Also, I'm now in Act 2 and none of the vendors have the required items for Act 2 either. Is my game broke?
Most likely. Varric's and Aveline's first upgrades should be available at lowtown during the entire act 1.Are the act 2 upgrades missing as well?
Yes, they're missing. However, I was able to get an upgrade for Fenris in a chest in one of the dungeons, can't remember where, so it's only the shopkeeper's items that are missing. Does it make a big difference if you get them or not? I won't even worry about it if it doesn't handicap the party too badly.
Definitely sounds like a bug. The armor upgrades provide extra armor, attack, defense, magic resistance, health, health regeneration, critical chance and rune slots (all depending on the companion). These things are definitely beneficial, but I would say it depends on your difficulty setting as to whether not having them will handicap the party. If you are playing on casual, you will probably be fine without them, but if you are playing on nightmare, you will probably have a more difficult time.
