I don't think I would feel bad about that either way. The dude's face looked completely dead, he was crouching around like he was some kind of pet rather than his son...I'm guessing Alexius' son was actually already dead, and what we saw there was just his necromanced corpse.

Yep, this is most likely the case especially after you consider the fact that Dorian's specialization is Necromancer or highly rumored to be Necromancer and that he studied under and was mentored by Alexius.

Oddly enough, if it comes down to a choice between sending Cullen or Leliana to that place, I'm still sending Leliana. And I romanced Leliana in Origins.

 

I mean, Cullen already kinda dislikes mages. Imagine what he'll be like after being tortured by them. Again. I don't want another Meredith on my hands and in charge of the Inquisition's military forces no less. So in a choice between making Leliana cold and hard or making psycho mage killer Cullen come true I'm willing to sacrifice Leliana. Not happy about it but I'll do it.
