Actually Merril was 'introduced' as it were, back in DAO with the Dalish Elf Origin story....

 

As for my own characters name... First one off is going to be a Female Qunari  Mage, I'm thinking of using Nyx, Hebe, Hecate, Hymera, or Nike....

 

I had no idea. Thank you for clearing that up. I was never a fan of the Dalish Elf Origin story. I played it once, but never completed the entire play-through (which says a lot considering I played the hell out of DAO, well over 30 characters). I found the City Elf Origin to be more gripping, but that's just my personal opinion. The Dalish Origin in DA:I seems much more desirable. 

 

 

[boissiere], I am naming her after Avatar Korra from the Legend of Korra. The personality will be similar, but Qunari Korra will be more ruthless. Really, I just love the name.

I know I want to give my female Dalish mage a Welsh name but I haven't decided on one.  From the ones I've searched through I like Gwendoline, Eirwen, Rhiannon, Aelwen, and Aerona as possible choices.

I've got 3 Inquisitors planned out. Male trevelyan mage, name Electus (should be pretty easy to figure out, and yeah i guess it's kind of corny but i like the sound of Electus Trevelyan. Female Dalish Rogue will be Nuvenin, this was more chosen for the sound than the meaning (inevitable). Male qunari warrior, name Meraad, "the tide"

My human quizy would be called Eloise whom is named after my desecessed grandmother may she rest in peace.

My Dalish Elf name will be called Ariana named, after her mother before her capture by the Circle. Mostly mages and a few rouges.

I go with the default every time. I never hate the default names, and to me it's easier to just do it that way than to have different names each and every time. My characters differ in personality, generally speaking, not in name.

I was going to name her Rori. But i've had to change from a dwarf to a dalish since Solas is gated. So I was thinking of naming her Leviah. I think it sounds nice.

Only got two characters planned for play right now, but these are the names:

Feral Adaar (Champion Warrior): Chose this partially because it sounded strong to me and also because it's not a word people would associate with being a name. And since the Qunari aren't really named in the same sense as most people, I decided to play with the idea that he was named with a word that describes his nature rather than a name that holds no meaning in it to a Qunari.

Nora Cadash (Templar Warrior): I just really like this name for a girl; the fact that it stands for 'honor' makes it all the more ironic in her case (being from the dwarven mafia and all).

I tend to name characters based on meaning of the name and if it sounds as though it fits them.

But seriously, I don't know what i'll be naming my characters. For DA:O I used Lucien for my Noble Male. And for DA2 I used Ethan (what else?!). I just hope characters don't refer me just as "Inquisitor" or "You". If I wanted to be called "you" I would have put Yueh as my name.

 

That said Yueh doesn't sound that bad as a Qunari name...

My personal headcanon demands I name her Archaeon. Archaeon somehow swapped genders, was transported to an alternate universe and as a result, developed amnesia only for Flemeth to transplant false memories into her head as a normal human. And thus, the Everchosen of the Chaos Gods became the Herald of Andraste, and they all lived happily ever after.

I'm not very creative, so since I'll just take standard English given names...

 

Male human warrior: Alexander or Brandon Trevelyan

 

Female human mage: Alanna or Arya (Aria?) or Llewellyn Trevelyan

 

That's gonna be my first two playthrough. Normally I'll go for at least two for each DA games, if I make a third one then it'll be an elven or qunari rogue.

My male Trevelyan is going to be named Ardo. My other character is going to be a female elf and unfortunately I still haven't chosen a name for her. I'm also not sure which one is going to be my first inquisitor.

My male dalish mage name is gonna be Henry. Henry after the dark mage in fire emblem awaking, also hoping I can rp as a "a kid in a candy store". Can't wait to see the how all the  Va play their role. Also props on the Korra Qunari Shark.
