I have DA:O and DA2.  DA:O was good but I disliked the combat (and other things, but that's not important).  DA2 was a little bitter, but felt... it just wasn't like DA:O for some reason.

So what is the combat like now?  Is it real-time, sort of like Skyrim/Shadow of Mordor/Dark Souls?  Or does it still have that auto-attack thing going on?

Umm I'm not good at explaining things but I suggest you check out some gameplay footage especially from the developers. They show off both the real-time combat and the tactical camera reasonably well (Mike Laidlaw's pretty good at this).

Unless of course you've already seen this then just ignore me.

I'd say it resembles more DA:O with more added to make it feel unique.

It has been described as hybrid of both by devs I believe. You can have both real time battle and pause for tactical mode.

DAII combat was the same design. Both DAO and DAII were already real time with pause. The main difference being that DAII was faster paced (honestly I used puase more often in DAII due to the faster pace) and the significantly less useable camera. Obviously, all abilities/classes have been rebalanced for each game so those are technically different; however, the games play the same way. Inquisition appears to have DAO's camera with a pace more similar to DAII...which are minor differences.

Also, I nearly forgot about people who played DAII on console and had that wretched lack of auto attack and had to button spam.

The auto attack has a toggle, you know.

I knew it did in DAI, but I didn't realize DAII did as well. I only ever played it on a computer, never on console. Apparently I was wrong about that part : )
