Just had a couple of basic questions about Kotor's combat system:

1. When a damage breakdown is given in the feedback menu, what accounts for the energy value? For eg. Damage breakdown: 8 = energy 6 + weapon specialization 2

2. How is the attack modifier calculated when using double bladed weapons or dual wielding? An example, perhaps?

3. Is Critical Strike the only attack that can stun opponents (as opposed to Flurry and Power Attack)?

4. Can someone explain the blaster shot deflection/return mechanics please?

  • Energy is the damage type of lightsabers and most blaster pistols, rifles and heavy weapons.
  • Dual Wield Penalty
  • Sniper Shot can also stun opponents, but all other combat feats cannot unless a weapon with On Hit: Stun is equipped.
  • Jedi Defense

1. melee,

2. fight at range,

3. force stun then fight = auto hit.

  • Lightsabers may do energy damage, but all other melee weapons do physical damage (although Bacca's Ceremonial Blade and Baragwin Assault Blade(s) have energy damage bonuses, as do Mission's Vibroblade and Sanasiki's Blade when upgraded).

  • Do you mean to use ranged weapons at close enough range that the Close Proximity Ranged Bonus of +10 offsets any Dual Wield Penalty?

  • Force powers are the most reliable means of debilitating opponents, but while 4 is deducted from their defence and any Dexterity modifier is also excluded (so Juhani in the Grove on Dantooine is reduced from 22 (including DEX +3) Defence to 15 when debilitated, for example) this is not auto-hit (although it may often seem like it if the Close Proximity Ranged Bonus or melee on ranged bonus of +10 applies as well).
