Hey hey!

Since a bunch of us will be getting access on the 13th and are no doubt counting down the days, I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread for us, so we can discuss things without spoiling them for everyone else.

I know I'm starting this thread quite a bit early. I guess I'm channeling my excitement!

I've actually preordered the game on PC, so I'll mainly be fiddling around with stuff on Xbox, but even so I'm really excited for the preview and The Last Court. Are most people with access also getting the game for Xbox One?

EDIT:

Some updates:

The trial on EA Access is now live!

DA:I will be ready to import our world states.

The trial is confirmed to be six hours of not just playtime but of the game application being open at all, so be sure to exit it from the home screen whenever it's not in use.

Per LPPrince's suggestion, I'm adding the Gamertags from the topic to this post. Where the BW name is different, I've put it in parentheses.

It was a really backwards-looking move for Sony to reject EA Access, I think. It's much more in line with how we consume media today.

I use Xbox for media and such as well, though I use PC for gaming mainly.

Checking in for EA Access. ^_^ I'm getting physical copies for PS4 and X1, but looking forward to the character creator and the chance to try out the new gameplay system with the trial.

I didn't plan to spoiler about anything though. I'll just share a screenshot of my character, most likely.

I plan on playing on the Xbox One so I guess I will try and do the early access thing.  I don't currently have access, but I will get it to be able to play early as long as I do not have to buy it through origin or digitally, considering I already pre-ordered a physical copy.

Do we have any idea what the size of the download will be?

I'm -probably- going to get early access but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm here, though, with my xbox one ready to check in. I thought I'd wait and see how it went with you guys before I got the subscription myself.

I think it's much too good to be true, though. The way I was explained it by a microsoft tech support person was that the early access was the full game and not only that but if you had early access you would never even have to purchase the game unless you decided to end your early access subscription.

There's got to be a catch.

I asked if I had to purchase the game through xbox in order to get the early access and they said you never had to buy the game at all. I already have a hard copy preordered, so that's why I'm on the fence.

You get a game trial which is usually 6 hours, you must purchase the game to be able to play further. You don't get a brand spanking new game for free through the subscription.

I can't get the early access because I do not own any consoles.

Also, I hate everyone who will be able to play the game on 13th.

So there's that.

The tech support guy didn't know what you were asking about, I think, or was confused by the rest of EA Access. If you get a subscription to it, you automatically have access to the games in the EA Library (as long as you maintain your subscription) without buying them separately. This doesn't go for the new game previews, though. For those, you just have access for those five days before release (though if/when you receive the full game, it will just apply that license and you can continue playing without having to reinstall. Such was the case for the previous games offered by EA Access, anyway. :)

I think it's well worth the $5 (to me, anyway); that's the price two comic books or a movie rental for extra Dragon Age!

Same! I'm mainly going to fiddle around with the CC anyway, because I'm going to have to start the game from the beginning once it comes out. I'm still really excited, though!

It will be the full game download, I assume. 41.61 GB, according to someone in the preload thread.

I have EA Early Access and I'm getting the game for Xbox One. However, I haven't decided how much of the game I will play before the actual release so I may not participate in this thread. Most likely I will go ahead and start and just goof around and then really get into the game on the 18th. I don't really like the idea of starting and then having to wait a few more days to be able to continue.

Is it 6 hours in a row or total?

I don't play to buy the game for XB1 (PS4 is what I decided, based on it being the only system I can use DS4 on), but I have one and want to play around with it so might pay the $5. I'm not sure when I'll have 6 hours in a row during that time, though... so maybe not.

Has it been confirmed to be 6 hours?

I'm planning on getting EA access for the month if I can get a confirmation on what time we actually get playing Inquisition.

I got a year of EA Access since it worked out way cheaper than paying month-by-month and I want the continuing discounts on DAI's DLCs etc, as well as the early access. Looking forward to more details on how it actually works - I get that I can download the early access digital version and then 'unlock' it with my physical copy when it arrives, but I'm still curious as to what's included in the trial. Do all 6 hours have to be played consecutively? I wouldn't imagine so, but I haven't played one of these before…

I'm also hoping the MP is included - I'd like to play with the character creator but don't want to get stuck into the story until I have the full thing, as I'd get too frustrated at having to stop 6 (or however many) hours in. ;)

It hasn't been confirmed at all how much, or what, you get with DAI and EA Access.

The SPORTS games were 6 hours - but they're own page says some games are timed, some are up to a certain point, and some are the full game.  We won't know until we go to download it.  The fact that they're distinguishing that different games are treated differently makes me think it's not timed.  From the EA Access FAQ (which has changed since I last read it):

What will the pre-release trials include? Will my progress carry over?

For some games, you’ll be able to play specific modes for a limited time, while other trials let you jump right into the full game. And since you’re playing the real game, any progress you make will carry over so you can pick up where you left off on launch day.

Personally, I think a time limit for an RPG like this would be silly - but we'll see.

Anyway - CHECKING IN!

I think there are a few people who plan to upload videos?  I was planning on doing Twitch for the CC and maybe the first bit for each race/gender or something.  I was going to make a thread for the videos a day or 2 before, but if you want to just post them to the OP whenever we get them uploaded we could just keep it all in one place :D

checking in with EA Access.

On a important note those of you getting one month access make sure to cancel your order as it is automatically set to auto renewal every month/year depending on what you get.

See, this makes sense to me. But I'm telling you, that is completely the opposite of what Microsoft is telling people.

Charmaine: I understand that you want to confirm if you still need to buy EA access when you already have a hard copy of the game, correct?
you: Sort of. I think I'm making my question more complicated than it has to be. I want to play Dragon Age Inquisition, so my husband pre-ordered my hard copy from gamestop which is non-refundable.
you: Then I heard that since I have an xbox one, we would be able to subscribe to early access that would allow us to have access to a trial or demo five days early.
you: But in order to access that I would have to purchase the game again online. I just want to confirm that, because the last guy seemed a bit hesitant.
Charmaine: Oh! Thank you for confirming. I know how excited you are to play the game.
Charmaine: Let me further assist you and I will do my best to make this day better and ensure that all your concerns are properly addressed.
you: Thanks.
Charmaine: You are welcome. Please give me one moment to check this game online real quick.
Charmaine: The hard copy you purchased is for Dragon Age Inquisition, right?
you: Yes.
you: I'll bring it home to play Nov. 18
Charmaine: Sure, this game is so cool! Actually, if you sign up for EA access, you are able to download the content for free.
Charmaine: No need to buy the game again.
Charmaine: Under EA access, there is a vault where all the games available are listed.
you: Oh good.
Charmaine: Simply choose the game Dragon Age Inquisition and add it to your profile, then you can play the game.
Charmaine: The drawback for this is that if you decide to discontinue the EA access subscription, the games will no longer be accessible.
you: So I could get the early access to Inquisition, then when I get my hard copy just continue on or start over. But if I end my subscription to early access, I would not be able to continue that save.
you: Correct?
Charmaine: That is correct and you will be unable to access the free game under EA access only.
you: And this is just a demo, correct? What you can access for free?
you: A small portion or the first ten minutes or something.
Charmaine: It is not only the demo but you will have access to the full game itself.
you: The full game? For free? For five days? And after the five days you have to purchase it if you want to continue to play it?
Charmaine: Yes, as long as you download the full game, you will be able to access and play the game making sure that you have the EA access subscription. This is how it works. There is a vault time for EA access. For example, this month, there are 5 available games which you can download for free.
Charmaine: Next month, there will be new set of games.
Charmaine: As long as you download the game, you will be able to play and continue accessing the same game.
you: I understand. I think. lol. But when would you purchase the game if you could keep accessing it for free for $5 a month or whatever? Why would you ever need to purchase the game?
you: Sorry I'm making this so complicated. lol
Charmaine: As long as you keep the EA access subscription, there is no need to buy the game. You can download it for free. The key here is the EA access subscription. Without it, we will not be able to download free games.
you: Wow.

Yeah... That's a weird convo lol.

It's definitely a trial - I think the person maybe looked in their files, saw we get the full game opened up 5 days early, and assumed that was it. (Speculation)

There's no way they'd let you play the whole thing for $5 a month. I'm assuming on 11/18 that game will be unavailable until it's purchased (or you play using your disc) until it's out in the vault.
