I have had the same issue w/the A button vs. the right trigger, ha ha. I think I'll get the hang of it in time. And then when I switch up to another game that will become confusing for a few.
I have played around 3 hours now (if you include the 40 minutes it took me to make my character.) I'm in the Hinterlands at the first...outpost? Village? you establish. I am thinking about starting over with a new character, though. A mage used to be my preference, but I played a rogue on my last DAO playthrough and really enjoyed it, so I started with that here, too. But I fine I am missing my magic. I figure I can get back to the same spot by the end of the trial, and then on Tuesday when I get my real copy of the game, I can decide which character I want to pick up for my first official playthrough.
I will say I am super pleased with the character generator, more so than I've been in any other Bioware game. And so far, I am finding the dialogue and interactions fine. (There may have been a few moments where I stopped and did a little happy dance or laughed in sheer DA induced euphoria. Maybe.)
Surprising for me: so far, I really like Solas. He seems very down to earth and matter of fact, and looks better than I gave him credit for in screen caps.I am actually glad I made an elven character, on the off chance I decide I want to romance him instead of Cullen.
I am kind of impatient when it comes to combat. I am finding that using the tactical option all of the time is making things take forever. Part of that is as I'm learning the system and the various party members' abilities. But IDK. I think at least 50% of the time I am just going to want to charge in and have the AI handle everyone but me.
