My hours are up. I started off playing on hard, because I thought I'd use the same save for the full game on Tuesday. However, after spending a lot of time fighting minions, I thought it was better to play on normal so I'd waste less time fighting, and more time playing what little I could. Especially with the controls being confusing. Using the trigger for an attack just doesn't seems natural compared to pressing A. Especially when meleeing. It doesn't help that the Xbox One controller isn't the best system controller out there. I really wish I could use my PS4 controller instead.
Kind of disappointed that there's no Race specific abilities. You're the same Mage no matter what race you pick, besides maybe the stats being different.
I wish there were more "character" options for the main player too. So far in the demo there's not much to use to give him/her a personality or past, with a lot of vague options. I feel like Shepard had more personality so far. However, this is just the beginning of the game, so it might get better.
The dialogue wheel is much better then in past Bioware games. No more "Up" for good guy, and "Down" for bad guy, and middle for "Say a joke" or "Good response but less feeling put into it". Instead the options are mixed, and more about different expressions. You now have to actually read them, and the emotion they bring, and decide that way. I only wish you'd be able to see a cheat sheet subtle of what the character says if you stay on an option long enough.
I also love the world. It feels big an awesome. Lots of stuff to do, and not enough time to do it. Solas seems like a cool outlaw scientist, and Cassandra does come off as an impressive woman taking charge. She feels like a Miranda done right, and my Qunari Mage will most likely be romancing her. So overall I did enjoy my playthrough, and wish I could play more.
