Why is it when someone doesn't like it, they result to petty name calling such as "he's trash" and "he's mediocre" and the ever popular "he has no talent." Do you think he would have been in the music indsutry for a decade if he didn't posess at least a little talent? And @FastJimmy You can't really be disapointed in an album you haven't listened to...

 

Is it alright if we separate the man and the music?

 

The idea of Chris Brown the person being trash or mediocre is not going to get a lot of fervent disagreement.

Well, let's break down the word "disappointment." Dis, a prefix indicating wrongness or incorrectness, and appointment, a word meaning that you have assigned quality or responsibility. Essentially, disappointment means you incorrectly placed expectations or quality to something that was inaccurate.

I have not done that. If you told me the new Chris Brown album was ten songs all with the exact same melody and hook, repeated ten times, I would not be surprised. With such low expectations, I would never be tempted to buy the album, so when others express dismay about doing so, I am not surprised by it. One cannot be disappointed with something that has zero expectations of worth.

If we were ever to reliably do that we would have to replace humanity with a bunch of robots.

 

Not that I'd mind that, but it would be somewhat disconcerting to see all of the fleshy meat-bags replaced by metal counterparts. 

 

Most music can be described as mediocre trash since it's all auto-tuned regardless of the original quality.

autotune is the same as playback on live-shows: its fake.

And mediocre trash is an opinion by the way, just because you don't like something, that does not make it so. Once again, you haven't listened to the album. And do you mind telling me what's so bad about autotune as long as the person using it has at least some singing ability? Chris does, so I don't see the problem.

Weren't you the one who said the album was fairly bland, dealing with the same discussion material repeatedly and only having one song that stood out to you on an entire album? That sounds pretty mediocre to me.

Autotune is a crutch, BTW. There are countless individuals out there with the work ethic, musical talent and creativity to make original music fueled entirely by their own voice, instruments and innovation and don't make in their entire lifetime what Chris Brown will make opening week of this album, despite him using AutoTune and industry writers to help make his songs. Mediocre is just that - middle of the road, not of any outstanding worthiness. He is a skilled dancer, I will give him that. But that's a reason to watch a music video, not a reason to buy an album.

I read the thread title as 'Chris Brown has disappeared yet again', naturally I clicked on this topic to make a post stating that nothing of value has been lost, I stopped myself short when I realized my misreading of the thread title. The OP is correct, Chris Brown has disappointed yet again.
