Signing into the Keep it shows I have 4 heroes with the same name.  First, I'm not sure how that occurred, but whatever.  Is there any way to see more details of the character to see which is which?

There aren't any details anyway, except for the portrait, class, and origin.

If you have more than one character with the same name, it probably means you used that character for the main game and for each DLC pack. It treats each one as a different hero.

There is no way to choose between them but, as AlanC9 said, in practice it makes no difference since the only details brought up into the Keep are the name, race, gender and class.

Does to the people playing though. Some people put their heart and soul into the role they fill in game, and even write their own fanfictions or draw their own fan comics. Such minor problems will annoy anyone that likes to have all the details before they start creating such works.

Well, it's 4 duplicates. Surely they can continue to love their character despite them?

If I've noticed anything (at least when comparing my DA:O designs to my DA2 designs) is that I don't like any of the characters I made for DA2, I've used the default look for most of my choices. However, the game created 2 instances of the same Hawke I did create, this was because I used the face changer in lack Emporium.

However, their levels should be listed somewhere.

The levels were removed for the Open Beta.

None of those things are pulled in when you select your character. That is done through the Tapestry.
