I couldn't find one, so I'd like this thread to be about all thoughts on the possible naming of the next Age in Thedas or any theories relating to it ![]()
For those that don't know, here's a link to the DA wiki for lore on the matter: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Ages
Quick summary is that the game is set during the Dragon Age, thus why the series is called "Dragon Age".
At the end of an Age in Thedas, the head of the Chantry -- the Divine -- names the next age (e.g. At the end of the Blessed Age, the Divine named the next one, the Dragon Age -- due to the sudden reappearance of dragons in Thedas, and a recent massive attack by a Dragon).
Now the Dragon Age is at the halfway point, as an Age lasts 99 years and DA: Inquisition starts sometime late or after the year of 9:40 Dragon. Its reasonable to assume that Bioware will skip some years in the timeline to allow breathing room between the major events the games always are; as well as to have those gaps allowing a place in the timeline for the books and comics.
Personally, I think it'd be a little odd for the series to be called Dragon Age if the series continues in another Age.
I doubt Bioware will rename the game series to fit the new upcoming Age, but what if they don't have to?
The Age's are named by the head of Chantry, the Divine, during the end of the current one, but what if there is no chantry or no one to name the next Age? What if the Divine is killed, and the Chantry is destroyed -- or at least in heavy ruin -- at the end of DA: Inquisition? Resulting in no one naming the next age and the Dragon Age continuing? This is my personal theory at least for the next Age (or lack of one I guess).
