a friend and i were talking about the game guid for DAO and he said it would be no fun to know were every thing is or were to go. it is more fun to explore the game blind than with a guid. I am going to buy the mass effect 2 game guid but i wont use it ,the first time through.

I'm getting it as well, only really look at things like character build & when/if I get stuck what to do

No guide for me, thanks.
Takes all the fun out of it. But each to their own, I guess.

If its anything like the DA:O guide, half of it will be nothing but lies, rumours and misinformation.

I'll be getting it just cause I like having one for when I find myself stuck due to this or that. Myst began this trend for me when I'd get stuck on a puzzle and after a few hours and still no luck figuring it out on my own, I'd be ready to pull out my hair. >.<! Also, I'm a sucker for maps of any sort, which from what I hear this has full maps of each location. All that being said, I'll be using it for reading up on the romance options before choosing one to go with on my first playthrough, and if/when I get stuck. It's great to have on hand when your immersion gets broken due to frustration, but no point in bothering to look at it while immersed in what's happening and things are moving along at a decent pace.

I like having the guide because game manuals are no fun anymore. I want the collectors edition with the art info. The DA collector's game guide is awesome, and I hope the ME2 is at least as cool. I love art books!

Why what was wrong with the DAO guide?

The Witcher had a nice guide with spoiler warnings. That's a paradox.
It was the best I've encountered with so far.

Apparantly, it contained a lot of false information.

The guide for DOA is horrible. I bought it and i am so sorry i did. There is so many things missing in that guide its not even funny. It does do a good job at giving you information about your classes and what not but as far as the walkthrough is concerned, its full of errors, missing information strategies used are all messed up.

I never use guides. If I get completely stuck on something I might look up the answer online, but ideally I prefer to figure things out myself.
And it doesn't look like the sort of game where you really need to worry much about finicky powergaming optimization of your character.

Its more fun when your not expecting it. I dont like knowing that if I cut the red qire, the bomb blows up in my face. Ill take the chance with guessing!

I'm getting the guide and reading it, just not the "walk through" part.
I wish I had read at least the character creation part of the Dragonage guide, when I made my first character. I would have saved myself a lot of pain and suffering..
My hero ended up an almost useless during endgame due to the fact that I mixed and maxed to many different skills thinking that was the right way to do it (I was supposed to be a tank). Lets just say near the end of the game I had almost no top tier skills and was so spreadout my character was almost useless.
And the same goes for my first mass effect play through... *shudder*
So I will definitely be reading the wiki and the guide book creation sections. While I want to be surprised during the game, I don't want to, again, end up spending 40+ hours with a character who is ineffective and makes it more difficult to actually play the game.

OR read an online walkthrough... for FREE.
Sorry, but getting a game guide is kind of redundant, unless you don't have internet or something.

My entertainment center is like...on the other side of my house from where the desktop is. If I'm going for a full, no holds bar, DO EVERYTHING playthrough (which my first probably won't be) it's just not feasable for me to run back and forth to the PC just to see where X is hidden and where to find Y to give it to. So for me, buying a guide is much easier than looking stuff up on the internet.

There shouldnt even be a game guide (PRIMA IS THE DEVIL)>

Guide is completely pointless.
EVERYTHING on the guide, and the guide itself will probably be up on the wiki or some other site within a week after release.
Like it always is.

Sadly, I need one because I would like to finish the gae before I'm shipped off to Afghanistan to kill real people instead of imaginary ones.
