I have no problem at all with apparently "basic" sidequests. I remember multiple occurrences in Skyrim where I would head off in search of something mundane, like a bear pelt, and wind up roaming through a mountain range for three hours before stumbling upon a ruin with a bunch of Draugr or something Daedric in them.

As other people in this thread have mentioned, sidequests in the "fetch quest" vein are more catalysts than anything else when the zones are this huge. And besides, I'll be so busy accruing power and listening to companion banter that I don't think I'll mind picking up a potion for some old woman with the whooping cough. EXP, all day.

- Weak Side Quests. The main complaint here was that they don't have real story of background. They ask you to do something in inquisition and the only thing you can do is accept. In Origins you could investigate to find more about the quest and the circumstances that lead to the person needing your assistance. You could accept the quest or you could blackmail people to give you more money. The Quests still seem to have proper context in Inquisition but no more big stories attached to them like in Origins.

In Lothering, there are only 3 out of 12 side quest has proper "story", just saying

Is there any videos of DA:I on last-gen consoles?

Dragon Age: Inquisition - Video Anteprima - Gameplay ITA HD

In this video, the italian tester add some new news. Frist, closing the rifts are repeatable quests, as also making inquisition camps. Second, no more chain commands... skills and spells are to be turned on manually, for every member of the party. They fight in auto mode for base combat (weapons handled and distance from enemy). Probably this is a combat system based on common commands like attack, defend and so on. He also noticed some pathfinding problems for companions. It seems that sometimes our companions are stuck away form action during combats, making necessary a direct imput by ourself to correct the problem.

The game was tested on PS4.

The Dragon Age series has never the ability to chain attacks. When you give a companion an attack order they execute it then go back to doing basic moves.

(Maybe they're thinking of KOTOR?)

Do you remember the possibility to "organize" the priority of actions for the AI of our party members? The tactics? No more tactics, it seems.

They've said the only real difference besides graphics is there will be less background stuff going on - fewer NPCs standing around, etc.

The content is all the same.

Ok. Thank's for the reply.

All those sliders and color options in the CC got me wondering if those things would be on last gen.

I guess we can't say for sure until the game comes out, but they've been pretty upfront about the differences. I imagine you'll get the same CC full of shitty hair options like the rest of us :P

[snip] Stuff about me being a Bioware White Knight and other things.

Uhhh. I watched it twice to make sure I wasn't being a dick.

There's plenty of problems with DA:I that I've noticed so far. I'm not sure where you get the impression that I think that the game is perfect - I'm not delusional but it doesn't change the fact that the review is a bit melodramatic on how it's not like DA:O and that DA2 was awesome and he pretty much wants a remake. The Fade and The Deep Roads are like the epidomy of fetch quests and there is nothing pleasant about them after 10-15 playthroughs. He lacks a lot of easily obtainable information on the internet offered by the devs. the opinion the game not being tactical combat enough? Maybe he didn't utilise the Tactics as often as he should have or found them to be cumbersome on the controller if he is used to using pc commands and actions. The gameplay we see here is a Q Rogue, not the mage he was speaking of, so we're not even exposed to his experience to judge what he was doing, it's from another playthrough.

I think the reviewer is mostly disapointed that he didn't get to the hard core story and it reflects in his opinion that the side quests are fetchy one liners that didn't seem to be part of the game / story. And I would be of the same opinion if I was expecting X to happen but only got to see Y. That's just my impression of this disapointment though.

I'm not discussing this if we can't be civil about it, please stop making assumptions about my opinion on the game.

I wish people would stop treating Origin as some sacred, perfect game that all Bioware creation must adhered to. Origin is a good and successful game, but it still has plenty flaws.

I'm actually getting in it on PS4. ;)

Been on a forum for another game...

The last gen and current gen versions of that game are completely different.

One thing that's aggravating me in these videos FAR more than the lack of elfroot gathering is the lack of leveling up. Seriously, they just run around with unspent points.

MADDENING! (Said in exactly the same tone as Morrigan says it with Dog).

That bugged me so bad to see someone level up, and not even spend the damn points.

Odd criticisms here. His main beef is that npcs don't engage you in the world except to shout as you pass by or that there are too many fetch quests. He then notes that he was playing Origins last week. Well so was I and my recollection is I couldn't engage every npc either and I also got offered a ton of little side quests most of which I ignored. This just seems to be kvetching to just kvetch. Besides he also argues that he wants an Origins 2. Not sure that's what I want. I don't want DA 2 but I also don't want a remake of Origins as I've played that game.

I found the preview rather frustrating. In a huge world, not every NPC has 'chat'.

About twelve hours late to this, but I believe the Russian site broke an embargo by releasing footage of things they weren't meant to show yet. Bioware had requested that these videos only contain character creation and the Hinterlands.

(Then again, another video showed Emprise du Lion and I forget who that was. Was it the same Russian website?)

I still haven't had a chance to watch these videos, but the one that went down is back up again... did they edit the footage?

Also lame side missions, without any actual story behind them besides a single sentence.

I should really stop addressing this same point because I'll end up going crazy.

BUT HOW ARE THEY ANY LAMER THAN ANY SIDEQUESTS WE'VE EVER GOTTEN.

If anything there is more connection behind the ones we've seen than anything we got in DA2 and Origins.  Go set up watch towers to protect this area, or fighting a wolf pack who has been corrupted by a demon that came through the weakened Veil and is now terrorizing refugees.  Or there was one quest that asked you to go to a meeting between two brothers, one a templar and one a mage.  They were gonna duke it out.  And these are just random side quests.

Maybe I'm missing the part where these are lamer than all the Blackstone Irregular quests, or the Mage Assembly or whatever those guys in the weird hats were.  I'm sure there will be some lame side quests, but from everything we've seen (from ONE area), they look pretty alright so far.

Not to mention that they're mostly optional!  You only need 4 power to continue the story!  That's like 2 side quests and setting up a camp, or closing a few rifts.

No, I easily played it around 10 - 15 times. From the time that it came out, till now, I've played it quite a bit.
