I don't disagree with this, I'm all for expanding rights of mages but not to point of mage freedom as no compulsary education of magic. Good schooling system could be enough if there was templar guard force or Seeker hunting mages who commit crimes too.

I happen to be for compulsory magic education. Too little control or lack of knowledge is very, very dangerous for both the mage and those around him/her. I simply feel most of the policies in place at the Circle's are way too extreme. Like preventing mages from having relationships? Needing special permission to marry, but never being allowed to raise their own children?

Some of the policies seem designed to dehumanize mages so those watching them feel safer, or more secure in their position. And the attitude of the templars who feel like they have divine authority over mages and the mages who resent the restrictions and being constantly watched, has created an environment where no matter which side you support, you will be called in the wrong because its developed into a huge "us or them" mindset.

You know, I was actually pro-mage up until DA2.

Meredith may have been bugf*ck, but she wasn't inventing the mages' transgressions in her head.

Exploit them?

Ok, let's turn down the outrage a few notches, alright? When we start thinking with our hearts rather than our brains, nothing good can come of it.

1-In times of war, conscription is common. Peasants are given terrible equipment (or non at all, sometimes) and told to go fight the enemy. The mages aren't being more exploited than everyone else.

Less, in fact. Remember how only seven mages were sent to Ostagar whereas thousands of common men and women died there.

2-The mages enjoy being called because it creates leverage which they will then use in post-war negotiations.

And yet again we're forced to choose between the douches.

I'd say to the void with both, but since there's no way to avoid that... let it be mages. Cause it won't make sense for a human mage, who finally escaped to side with the templars, like, at all. And yet I think they're pathetic, weak and don't deserve sh*t, but hey It's just the cards you're dealt.

The human mage is literally the only mage who has almost every reason to side with the Templars.

lock us up give us limited licenses to use our skills but when a war breaks out lets use em til its over right?

Actually, no. Neither the templars nor the Chantry can command a Circle to go to war. Request, yes. But not command. During Origins, it was Cailen himself who asked the Circle for help to fight the Blight, and First Enchanter Irving who agreed the Circle would help. The Chantry was not happy at all that Cailen did so, but couldn't do anything about it.

Qunari and Elven mages may have their reasons aswell. For instance, if the mage in question thinks it safer to suppress the breach, instead of overloading the mark.

It is also important to note, that it was not yet at this time consdiered a Blight. If it had been widely known that it was a Blight, then the Chantry would probably happily supported the aid of the mages. Yet, at the time it was only considered a large Darkspawn raid, and the Chantry did not like the nations being able to call on the Circle for such trivial matters.

Answer me this, then: How did life for the mages improve now that they've left the Chantry?

Or every reason not to side with them. The human mage is the one who got to observe the Templar's "expertise" firsthand.

The thing is, I don't really care for them or their lives that will "improve", at all.

I detest them. It's just I detest the templars a little bit more.

I'm... pretty sure there are quite a few mages who would disagree with that.

Our inquisitor could be one of these. He had a nice life with warm meals, warm baths, reading books and discussing the theory of lightning conductivity through lyrium with his colleagues, making sure to be polite to the templars and not ****** them off, then suddenly, BAM! You hear that the conclave went apeshit, voted to leave the Chantry, got the templars all riled up and declare the death of all mages and now they're banging on his door so he has to run from his warm room with hot baths and delicious meals and has to hide into cold forests scrounging for whatever nuts and berries may or may not be edible while shutting out the voices of the demons who keep whispering promises that they're going to make it all better.

Well, ****.

I certainly wouldn't be happy about that.

Also I need to learn to detect sarcasm before I start typing.

Nah, not your fault. I just didn't check who I was replying to, or in what context.

Also, now I have a mental image in my head of mage inquisitor shooting fireball after fireball at rebel mages going "It's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault!"
