We cannot forget the corrupting aspects of blood magic and red lyrium as well the situation is really bad right now. XD

Yeah, but in the Hinterlands at least, you don't see much red lyrium corrupting the area, so I don't think we can necessarily count that yet. And since it's so early in the game, I don't even think the Red Templars even technically exist yet.

Blood magic doesn't make you want to light people on fire, and red lyrium doesn't make you want to rape people. Especially not people on fire. It's just blackwashing at it's finest.

To make matters worse, there's apparently no torture, so I can never show these sinners the authentic Inquisition experience.

There is no justice.

It's no different from killing bandits.

We won't, that'd be rather absurd.

DAII waves hello.

Yep.

As to the point of two evils, it's two really between two groups of sociopaths. Them stealing supplies is realistic. Them burning people alive, and then desiding that crispy people are ripe for raping is ****** sociopathic. It's ridiculous.

This was written from Hunter's perspective who couldn't hear what was going on. It'll sound less ridiculous when you read it in-game I'm sure.

On some level, you expect both major sides of a conflict -- since you really don't ever have just two factions in a conflict -- to act like asshats from time to time when war breaks out. So if we see Mages and Templars acting like douchebags, it's par for the course.

If that's all we see in the conflict, then ****** hell Bioware's even worse at writing conflict then I thought they were.

Yeah I suspect the group that we choose to join the inquisition might be against these depraved acts of violence and well rape. Problem is we can only choose one.

Oh, was this a codex entry note thing in the world? I thought I saw this before actually. Lemme see if I can find it and get a screenshot.

Well she wasn't on fire, she was burned which doesn't make it better. I think the point is that instead of helping then since many were still alive the Templar decided to kill them and rape the girl.

"And then I said, 'And I can do tricks.' But then it went haywire, A complete accident."

"And there I was, about to put this girl out of her misery. Then I couldn't help notice how beautiful she was. A real fireball. Talk about 'hot and bothered.' "

Yeah, there's no way to make this make sense anywhere.

How would she know about the Hinterlands situation directly if communications were cut off? It's in Ferelden and her base is in Orlais, so it's not like she'd get a native's-eye-view of the situation there. Also, it seems that she and Vivienne are both contacting the Inquisition, so it's completely possible that they want the Inquisitor to rein things in if Fiona doesn't have the resources to take control of things over there. It's much too early to say that Fiona is simply incompetent.

See above.

Do We know that communications are cut off? She can sends someone to see how The war is going. As The leader of The mages I'd be interested in seeing how it's going.

Part of me thinks the Mage-Templar situation has only gotten as bad as it did after the destruction of the Chantry Conclave. That event left both sides leaderless, with their leaders either dead or hundreds of miles away and thus a couple weeks at least from being contacted. So when two opposing headless armies are left to their own devices and thinking the other was responsible, chaos like what we see is expected.

Yeah it was a codex briefly seen in an hour long video of DA:I. I saw it over on the tactics thread on scuttlebutt (it was a couple of pages in).

It's entirely possible that they didn't survive.

I'm just advocating not panicking yet.

To be fair it's a little difficult to come up with such plans when your being attacked by Templars.

Which, while somewhat understandable, does little to encourage me to see your side as the best way into the future.

What I'm aiming for is the temporary suffering of a minority for a greater good that's better for everyone. We also haven't seen the revolution at all beyond its very beginnings.

Ultimately, after having thought about it, this isn't about me starting a rebellion; if I was in that situation myself, I'd have looked for other solutions before massive bloodshed ideally (having Lambert and his supporters assassinated might be an acceptable start). What it's about is why I have to support the rebellion now that it's here.

We have seen the revolution. It's right there in Hinterlands, among the stabbed, sliced, charred and frozen corpses of refugees.

As for who we're supporting from now on... well, like I said before, my dwarf has no emotional attachment to the debacle. He'll listen to the guys with the best plans for the future.

She's in another country. Expecting her to personally stop this is like expecting FDR to personally bring the hammer down on war criminals in the Pacific, except even more difficult due to the lack of a decent communications network.

It is one of the examples of "not realizing that actions have consequences" we've talked about in the Vivienne thread though.

Yup I am presume that is the reason why the enemy chose Haven as a target.

"I need a gun to protect myself from everyone else with a gun" is about the stupidest self-fulfilling prophecy to ever come out of USA...

I need a gun to protect myself from everyone else.

Don't get hung up on the gun. But then, I've noticed that outside the US people get ridiculously biased against them, so I won't bother arguing the point.

The point is that the Circles were gilded cages. You can have luxury upon luxury, but if you're enslaved in that cage, you're still enslaved no matter how gilded it is.

Well, if the templars hadn't pursued war, none of this would have happened to begin with... however, this is the beginning of the revolution, in a fight that seems to be between renegade parties. Do what we can to remedy the situation and keep hope alive.

It is one of the examples of "not realizing that actions have consequences" we've talked about in the Vivienne thread though.

I think saying that they didn't realize it in such a wake that spoke of a lack of intelligence is highly premature.

Yeah, The Elder One certainly seems to want to cause as much chaos as possible, most likely so nobody would be able to oppose them. And here is a huge conflict having peace talks, with the leader of Thedas' main religion in attendance. That place was a way to keep three groups in chaos, so it was a prime target.
