It proves nothing.

The Dalish do not believe in tranquility. The Dalish did not make Feynriel tranquil. These are the facts.

The PC is the one who judges if the dreamer Feynriel is too weak to endure. The PC is the one to make the call. Not Marethari.

Your 'killer' analogy is inappropriate to this matter.

You're now arguing just for the sake of it now :-) since this is obviously about "winning" the argument for you let me just say you "win!".

Mage, but I'm also anti-chantry so I think templars are also kind of oppressed by the chantry. I pretty much want to see the chantry burn and go down like the big pile of crap it is.

Can you imagine if actual DA style mages started appearing in the real world?

Mass hysteria.

Think less Harry Potter, more X-Men. Except 10 times worse. People would be demanding the harshest most authoritarian measures possible. The amount of humiliation and submission to authority that we're currently seemingly willing to accept on the basis of the statistically minor threat of "terrorism" is just a hint of what would happen. Fade demons? Abominations? Yeah I'll step in that body scanner no problem! Also that guy there looks a bit "magey", might wanna interrogate him for a few hours...

Of course Thedas has had the "magic issue" to deal with supposedly since time began so all their societies have adjusted to it in various ways, the Templar/Circle solution being one that seems to have held up fairly well so far.

In the game I can never quite get over the obvious dangers of magic users enough to support "freedom" although from an "in-universe" perspective it would entirely depend on whether you happen to be born with magical abilities or not. The Qunari "take no chances" approach would appeal to me as a "mundane", whereas for a powerful mage Tevinter might seem the shining future of humanity, under the wise leadership of superior beings. In the end the fairest solution available surely has to be some form of Circle/Templar. As much personal freedom as public safety allows.

Why do I get the feeling the only way this "Mage vs. Templar" conflict will end only by severing the connection by all races to the fade? Think they gonna pull a Mass Effect 3 ending?

Um, since this isn't the last Dragon Age game, that's not going to happen. The Mage-Templar War ends in this game. So, I don't know why you're getting that feeling.

The war definitely ends early on in this game. The otherside joins the enemy. They aren't lasting long.

pro-mage here. no one should have to be treated horribly just because of what they were born with. also, the elves...all had magic before the fall of arlathan, they communicated freely with their elven gods who were spirits of course and they were perfectly fine. I believe the elves even had blood magic during the days of arlathan but they weren't turning into abominations. blood magic does not kill people; people kill people.

I lean more toward the Imperium's take on the Circle. Have the mages watch the mages. They are still required to go to the Circle to master their Maker given powers, but they would not be subjected to the cruelty and scrutiny of the Templars. I am most certainly pro-mage, and anti-Templar/Chantry. The mages are human beings (or Elven... Or Qunari...) and should have the ability to forge their own path. They wouldn't be forced to reside in the tower for their entire lives, only until their training is deemed complete and they take the Harrowing. However, every mage would still have the option to stay in the tower after their test.

The Templars would be called upon when, and ONLY when, one of two circumstances is met. A) One of the mages becomes an abomination, or B) The Circle in question descends into the state of chaos that the Warden found the Fereldan Circle, and requires the Right of Annulment.

^Instead of the cruelty and scrutiny of the Templars, mages are subjected to the same by the Magisters.  It's all the same, those with the most power kick the cr*p out of those with less.

I do not think it is going to end. That's like saying there will be no more Horde vs. Alliance in World of Warcraft. A "peace ever-after" is not what this franchise needs

Mages and templars are not the two primary factions in Dragon Age though. Even in Inquisition, their war is a side-dish to the greater problem of the world-ending apocalypse.

Dev's words > yours. Also, Mages and Templars, aren't primary factions for anything besides Dragon Age 2. It's going to end soon.

Agreed on your first sentence. I am not sure what the rest is about, I mean, seeing it happen in game obviously would persuade me more than reading your trying to assert something onto everyone you meet here, before you even play the game?  ;)
