relationships between mages would not be forbidden.

Destroy the Templar Order. Build something new without them. Maybe with their skillsets, maybe with some similar roles, but the templars as they stand now must be ended.

Woops, forgot to change that bit. Yeah they're not banned but romantic unions are "discouraged" according to the wiki. I'll edit my post appropriately.

I support the Tevinter Imperium. What right do mundanes have to shackle their betters ?When I hear them call magic a curse,I want to eviscerate them. How can any sane man not wish to be a mage ?They have the power to bend reality,to alter the very nature of the world through nothing but their will. Can you imagine a Magister with today's understanding of physics ?They things they could accomplish...Mages are superior to mundanes in every way.Anything a mundane can do,a mage could do better and mages can do things even modern technology would find impossible to replicate. The power of the fade is infinite in it's potential and has no need for such foolish things as limits.

The strong should rule over the weak. That is the natural order of things.Eventually mundanes would die out due to evolution just like neanderthals did and humanity would be all the stronger for it.

Did I sound pissed off? Because I'm not. lol

I did read it that way, sorry dude.  I think I'm just sort of hyper-aware of my noobness and don't want to upset anybody too much.  (Yet.  *Insert maniacal handwringing here*)

The Templars are portrayed as Nazis and the Mages are portrayed as walking timebombs. I find it hard to care about either group.

I believe the circle is the least worst solution. I can't advocate absolute autonomy for mages due to their vulnerability to turn into abominations  especially given what happened at Redcliffe in Dragon Age Origins where a mere kid was controlled by a single desire demon and that resulted in the possible destruction of an entire village and it's citizens. Is that the kind of society that you would be happy for you're friends and family to grow up in? Knowing that could happen at any moment or time? The circle gives mages an opportunity to learn how to develop and control their powers in addition to some of the best education in Thedas free of charge that few mage advocates like to mention.

Mages for me should be treated that in some ways similar to medical students. They need to be well schooled in their abilities for a prolonged period of time (potentially over a decade). That alongside constant vigilance from an independent group of Templars to discourage blood magic and stop any abominations. Templars should also be well financed to avoid bribery. Then, and only then, should we consider the release of mages into the world of Thedas. I'd also imagine given their extraordinary talents, free mages like medical doctors will be a position to retire financially secure. Warriors and Rogues by profession generally couldn't say the same.

Templars need some serious reorganization, and should actually be integrated in Circle teachings with the mages. I find that a lot of the issue surrounding the conflict is a matter of perspective - Templars see mages as things to be feared and watched rather than understood. Most Templars seen were little more than extreme anti-mage psychopaths and it seems like participating to lessons of magic and history would actually benefit both groups to reach a common understanding. In fact, a Templar who understands the nature of magic would seem - to me at least - far better at his own work than a common soldier high on lyrium. The duty of Templars should be less about hunting mages, and rather protect them. This would create mutual trust and friendship between the factions and go a long way to repair years of abuse.

I'll support the group that is the first to realize that opposing the Inquisition is mass suicide.

The problem IMO lies in the feudal society. Since there really is no such thing as the rule of law (except possibly the Qun) then there really is no solution where both sides can be satisfied.

I'd like to see something akin to the White Council from the Dresden Files where there are specific laws of magic and specific penalties for breaking them.

If I were a citizen of one of Thedas' nations, aside from Tevinter, I would absolutely be pro-Templar. A thousand plus years of Chantry dominance all but assures it.

After looking over my "Dragon Age Keep: Tapestry", I realized that I sided with the Mages on every Mage/Templar decision.  I don't see that changing anytime soon. Though I will obviously side with the Templars on one of my playthroughs.

Hopefully, I can reach a third option that obtains peace for both sides.

However if I had to choose like in DA2, most likely mages now that I know Fiona is alive.

My opinion of Fiona might drop very low if she's in charge of What's happening in the Hintelrands.

Kingdom was saved by a mage, his own life and his son was saved by a mage.

Oh yeah, the mage out lived him as well.

I can see a lot of blind as hell mage supporters here.

Litereally every single Templar "atrocity" I can think of becomes justified if the player subverts that action. Hoe can people not see that?

self-delusion, perceived moral high ground and most likely we are roleplaying. Most of us are rationale but some find moderation boring so they go to X extreme. Simple really :)

While I love those books, I'm not sure you can really make that system work in DA.  The main reason the wizards aren't bombed into oblivion by the mundanes is that the mundanes don't know about them.  It's even referenced a few times that one of the biggest threats you can make in the supernatural world of the Dresden Files is threatening to get the mortals involved.

I've never disagreed so much with a person, as I have with you lol. The templars are a must, they should become more strict and pick more adequte and competent people who will not disgard their role like Evangeline.

No middle ground. Worthy mages should embrace demons and blood magic, and then rule.

Hope that the templars would eradicate every single blood mage they see. No excuses. Even your post confirms how fall they are with a selfish ambitions to rule. Good thing there orders like the templars and seekers.

The Templars, as they exist now, are too corrupt and must be cleansed by the flames of justice.
