Are you sure? Is it really only IP based recognition?

Sad so many Publisher cling on to the old reasons for delaying release, since everything is going digital anyway. Living in Denmark I have the same issue with streaming services like Netflix or music sold through iTunes. This ancient country code system should just be stopped once and for all.

It just goes to show how utterly ridiculous staggered launches are these days.

I agree, in Britain not being able to buy certain programs on Itunes or whatever because I don't live in the US is archaic.

Early release is tempting but I'll be kind to my wallet and stick with a non Origin pre-order.

ive been wondering something. If i start the preload through a vpn on the 14th, finishing the download is going take a million years, because of the slow download speed. Is it possible to circumvent that? Can you start the download, and then paus a few minutes in, exit vpn and go back to your own ip to continue the download? The thing is, over here we cant start preloading until the 17th, to be fair its only 2 hours after the game can be unlocked through the korean vpn, but hey id rather start as soon as possible if i can. Is it just like an authentication thing where you unlock the ability to download and dont need to have the vpn on after? Cuz i know thats how it works when you unlock the downloaded  game on release.

I doubt it but you could try it and let us know.

Yes, you can.

Just start the download, let it download a few MB's and then close VPN. When its like 99% left, just turn VPN on again. You need to use VPN again though when you unlock the game to actually play it.

In layman's terms, and afaik:

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and you can use it to secure data by routing traffic through a VPN server which will ultimately handle your request. Say you want to access the Hulu site and you're outside the US. If you access via your ISP, Hulu will inform you that you cannot watch the content on their site. However, if you route your request via, say, a VPN server located in the US, then Hulu will receive your request from a US address and assume that to be your location, unlocking the content on their site. Thus, by using a VPN server located in a specific country you can bypass regional restrictions and access content exclusive to said country.

Origin can only see the IP address of the VPN server that you are using to relay data to your computer, which tricks Origin into believing that you are in the country that the VPN server resides in.

That is basically how it works.

Do i have to keep using the VPN even when it passes the 20th, or can i stop using it by then?

So I will only need the VPN to install and load the game for the first time or do I need to use it every time I open the game until the 21st?

I think you don't have to use VPN each time if you start Origin in Offline Mode, after you have installed and activated the game once.

But I'm not sure!

However, I can assure you that you need to have VPN on each time if Origin is in Online Mode.

I tried another Korean Server and this Time, it shows for me here with a Germany based Postal Address:

Preload: November 14  - 06:00 AM

Available = Playable: November 17 - 04:00 PM

This time the Korean Server thing worked. Last time it showed November 18 06:00 AM still.

Anyway:

So I will only need the VPN to install and load the game for the first time or do I need to use it every time I open the game until the 21st?

Short answer: No need to use a VPN every Time. When the Game is activated, it is activated.

Long answer:

There are a dozen of Descriptions in the Net. And here is the Link again which Burricho already posted:

http://www.reddit.co...titanfall_early

I have never Pre-Ordered and Preloaded a Game on Origin my self yet, but it works basically on all Platforms the same way.

And the Description above is for Origin itself.

So basically:

Make sure yor are Logged out of Origin (and the Website if you visit it before) and close Origin completely.

How to Preload:

1.) Connect to a Korean VPN Server

2.) Start the Origin Software and Login like always

3.) Start the Preload of #WhateverGame

At this point, the Description says you can pause the DL and disconnect from the Korean VPN, when Origin has been loaded around 20 Megabyte

Other People had more luck after 100 - 200 Megabyte were done. Unpause the Download. UPDATE: 15.11.2014: Do not pause the Download. It does not work for everyone. Simply disconnect from the VPN and 10-60 Seconds later, you should get the maximum Download Speed from your ISP.

5.) Wait until the Download is complete

6.) Logout of Origin

Preload done.

You can start Origin without a VPN Connection anytime you want, if you want to play / download another Game.

Personally, at this Point I will make a Full Copy / Full Backup of the Preloaded Game just in case the DRM Software "has her days" ;)

How to Play:

At the official Release Date and Time:

1.) Connect to a Korean VPN Server

2.) Start the Origin Software and Login like always

3.) Start the Game

4.) Wait until the Game has loaded up to the Main Game Menu <- Depending on your PC and ISP Speed, it could take between 60 Second and in very very rare cases up to 5 Minutes. So dont worry! Origin must Download and / or decode the Executables (the File that starts the Game).

5.) Tab-out of the Game to the Desktop. Or: If you dont want to play now, close the Game

6.) Logout of Origin

7.) Disconnect from the VPN

8.) Play the Game

9.) Happy Dragon Hunting :)

You dont have to reconnect every Time through a VPN as soon as the Game has been activated the first time. Currently, the Origin Software is not able to deactivate it. !Just make sure to not use Origin or put it in Offline Mode until your local Release Date! EDIT: This is because a small case of People reported, that Origin has deleted the Game Folder. For now, its not really a forced uninstall but a Bug within Origin itself.

Who knows, maybe they will close this hole in the future. But for now you are fine.

Luckily, no Constant Internet Connection needed for DA:I.

And yes, as it actually stands, there are no known People that got banned for Preloading and Playing a Game on a different Release Date.

Buying a Game cheaper while using a VPN is another thing of course...

Use VPN can cause problems with the language? I mean the game can be only in Korean or Japanese. And what about the Keep? For Keep you must be online in Origin for transferring worlds.

People who've used this system for other games haven't reported language issues. Don't you pick the language at installation (not download) and I think the game downloads all the main language packs. Makes sense as not everyone playing DAI in the Far East will play it in the local languages.

You'd only need to use the vpn to upload the keep world state at the start of the game. According to the keep FAQs, if you are online - the keep updates as you play or if offline, the next time you are online. You don't need to be online to play DAI.

BioWare said somewhere that they will give additional language packs on the site somewhere, so even if the game is in Korean, you could still download the english language pack.

Because there are a few cases, where Origin deleted the Preload Folder if the Local Preload Time and the Origin Timestamp are incorrect.

This is more of an Origin Bug than a forced uninstall for what has been analysed so far. But you can never know, what Changes EA will made to the Origin Software in the future.

If you use the Origin Software through this time, you have been warned what possibly can happen :)

EDIT: Have added this to my above post

Connect to a Korean VPN and login to your Origin Account. There you can see the specific Hour when your Account will be ready to Preload and Play DAI. The specific hour is a mix of the IP Address / Region where you are connecting from and the Country your Postal Address is based. Thats how it is working for now with Origin.

So just to make sure, the hour that shows up on my library is in my timezone and not Korea's timezone, right? So I won't have to convert anything, when that hour comes in my country, I'll be able to play it.

Thanks for explaining all this stuff.  ;)
