I think it will do way, way better than DA2, maybe even better than Origins, but for that one we'll have to wait and see.

I believe the game will do very well. Time will tell.

There is one question that remains unanswered after strong opening previews and a strong marketing campaign.
I would like some, or one, I don't really care, reviewer who makes it to the end of the game to simply confirm, without spoilers:
That the ending rocks and that DAI is a great game with a great conclusion.
That's it, that's all I'm looking for, for joy to be unconfined - joy is pretty high now.
And with that confirmation in place I think DAI will do very well indeed.
And until play day, my downloaded but locked copy winks at me mockingly...

What I honestly think it is this with my confidence diminishing with time.
First week: Hardcore fans will buy the game regardless but it won't sale amazingly due to hesitation and flack from DA2/ME3.
First month: Due to word of mouth, good reviews and time sales will increase dramatically, especially thanks to the holiday season.
First year: GOTY?
This is an optimistic outlook for the game but I think the first week will be fairly accurate.

Are we referring to critical acclaim or number of copies sold?
More than likely the game will outperform DA2, but it's difficult to say how well it will do beyond that. With Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 also coming out in close proximity, DAI has tough competition on its hands. I'm sure BioWare is thankful that The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight were delayed as that would have made the pressure even greater. We'll see how well DAI holds up.

I think it will do generally well but will have some huge problems that players will disagree with such as the game progression's use of 'power' to continue the story.

People should think twice before preordering.
It feels so annoying when a poorly done game easily manages to get profits more than enough to cover up the budget spent on development in just day 1 or first week of the game release due to the amounts of preorders. Destiny deserved to be flopped but they still made loads of profits just 'cause they are Bungie.
Not sure about the developers' thoughts, but publishers won't really give a fart about the game's quality as long as they get money out of it, and thus rush developers to milk it faster.

I was highly skeptic of anything BioWare did after they killed my favorite video game series (Mass Effect... I've never truly recovered from the loss), and DA2 left a lot to be desired, BUT... Inquisitions looks amazing. I believe that they have learned from their mistakes, and are committed to making games above par in quality. That said, if Inquisitions is a disappointment, I don't see them coming back from that. But from everything we've seen, I think it will do very well.

Obviously no-one can truly answer this since no-one has played the game, but I think Bioware and EA have learned from their mistakes (let's not go into the whole ME3 and DA2 debacle, not to mention the pathetic excuses for Need For Speed games over the past 7 years. But I digress...) And have shown us some very promising things about this game so far, and maybe they will get a lot of people's respect back. What do you think?
for both mass effect and dragonage, each new game has surpassed the previous one in the series in quality, yes i still count mass effect 3 better than mass effect 2 despite the ending/reaper motive. All 5 games are really awesome, i play them again and again i don't know all this hate for dragonage 2 is all about, the only thing i can think of is lack of race choice and not liking how it ended. but the other 90 percent of the game was better than origins, anyways i'm getting off topic, whether you liked or hated those 5 games, Inquisition will be an awesome game, my only concern are the changes to combat, but story wise the game should be bioware's best yet.

I'm guessing it will pull in ratings of 8/10 to 10/10 depending on site/magazine and/or how jaded the author is feeling when writting the review. I'm pretty sure I'll love it, though.

It'll be better than DA2, but I doubt that it will be better than Origins.

If it's better than two in terms of scope and gameplay then it's game of the year in my book. Been waiting for this game for years...

I think it will do extremely well for a non FPS or sports game. ![]()
Good thing The Witcher got pushed to Q1.

If I weren't directly paying attention to DA:I news I wouldn't know anything about the release other than people making fun of Bioware promoting the romance options on twitter and maybe a trailer.
The only thing other than that I've seen on discussion sites is a few 'look at this trailer!' or 'game will run at 1080p 30fps' threads on /r/games.

It'll do as well as it does [/unhelpful]
Hopefully it will generate some good word of mouth, and it's been released close to Christmas so that there may generate a far few sales.

Perfect, means it's not been over hyped like Destiny and Titanfall.

I think it will be better than Origins. I'm that confident.
This is coming from someone who still enjoys playing DA II in spite of the recycled maps and the annoying combat waves (though admittedly, I've only done maybe two or three complete play throughs because the ending is the same no matter what you do for the most part). And I enjoyed Mass Effect 3 as well (save for the ending until it was fixed).
This game looks better than DA II. The open world feel and the hype regarding choices and customization makes me think it will be better than Origins. And I'm not the least bit worried about the story. Bioware always tells a good story.
I really think people need to stop looking at other games to determine how this game will do. Stop comparing it to Destiny. They are two very different games and it was obvious before Destiny was even released that much of the story content was taken out. Stop comparing it to Mass Effect. And stop being so negative. If you go into looking for bad things, that's what you'll find.

Not true about DA2 surpassing Origins, and I consider ME2 and ME3 mostly equal, so they don't surpass one another much.
