I got the inquisitors edition game bundled with the inquisitors edition guide, so I'll do 1 playthrough as a very stupid qunari warrior (so I can justify trying to murder/bang everything and being a general idiot) and then min max everything via the guide from then on out. I want to see everything possible, including 'fail-state' like playthroughs.

Blind because I don't want to ruin anything for myself.  If I get stuck the internet is usually good at assisting me through a tough spot.

I'll probably do a blind 'test' run, just to learn the ropes and get an idea of my companion's personalities. Then i'll restart and run with my pre-planed characters and team layouts.

Blind. That's what I want to do, but I'm too curious and usually end up googling things halfway through a game.

I don't want to be spoiled that much, it totally ruined DA2's ending for me.

Well, this time I'll try to be a little smarter (yeah you might doubt my success, I do as well) but anyway I ordered the guide and will stay away from the internetz...

Allow myself to read parts of this book only after I played a certain area and I should be good to go.

First playthrough - up until you've exhausted all other options, is always blind for me. And usually a shameless self-insert, so. Whatever mistakes I make, *I* Make them.

Next playthrough is always Roleplay as my character, with a mild use of guides. Generally to *Find* side quests I may have missed through my first playthrough.

I generally like to figure out everything for myself, makes it feel that much better when you pass it.

My first game is always blind unless I get stuck somewhere and then I'll google the solution. I then tentatively start reading up about other paths on subsequent playthroughs, just so see if there are choices I might want to make that I've missed.

I'm a perfectionist. I'm the type that first play blind till mid-game, then restart and make the perfect game watching videos or looking through forums.

Like if I finish my first playthrough blind, rushiong through all quest... I'm not going to keep that save there  especially when I've done a lot of things wrong..

I sometimes delete my first blind and complete playthrough after my second in most games..

And I always take notes just incase.

Considering I've been watching the videos they've released its not 100% blind as I know something's already.

But if you mean just using the guide to play through to get the best endings then I'm going blind my first playthrough.

I usually find that if I play with a guide then I lose the enjoyment from the game. The first playthrough is always the best.

Play mostly blind then when a major dilemma comes up I'll probably see what other people did. Kinda did this for Mass Effect. The choice between Kaidan and Ashley almost made me rage quit.

I will definitely play blind through the first playthrough.  I bought the collector's edition guide.  I wish I had enough for the really fancy one, haha.  So, I will use it at some point.  I will probably end up using the forums more than anything though.  You guys and gals who put up all these great character builds and companion builds have taught me a lot.

Edit:  Just wanted to add that many of you also explain your strategies and how you set your tactics slots.  Very much appreciated.  :)

Normally I play blind, unless I get really stuck, and then I will try to find a walkthrough on line.

For this game, because the game seems so complex, I decided to order a guide. There seems to be so many tasks, decision points, and exploration in the game, that having a guide, given my temperment, will keep me from losing my mind.

I'll use the guide to better understand the skill trees and specializations only, since you can only have 1 specialization I want to know which one will support my play style the most.

Even though I ordered the guide (which I rarely buy one) I'll be playing without a guide. After getting through most of my first playthrough I'll consult the guide for items I may have missed or want to collect to decorate skyhold with.

I'll probably get the guide, but I'll likely only use it to strengthen the approval of my companions.  Otherwise, I'll likely skip it for quests and exploration, at least at firest.  If I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a particular spot, though, I make no promises.  I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certain aspects of a game.

Honestly, it's going to kill me to have to leave certain areas of each region unexplored!  :crying:

I have already pre-ordered my guide (it's a limited edition and it's the first guide I have gotten for a Bioware Game) so I will be playing blind (I always do that for my first playthrough because I like to be surprised (like how I never knew I could romance Alistair the first time I played Origins) or that Liara would pretty much try and force herself on my character when I was interested in Kaidan (Sorry for being so nice Liara, won't be making that mistake again)

ironically enough - I have never missed a recruit-able character playing blind so hopefully that keeps up.

However, I probably end up resorting the guide if I get stuck but I will be keeping it out of my reach. I like to write up my own notes as I play for the first time so I can compare it with a guide and see if they offer a better suggestion for my next playthrough

Have never paid for a strategy guide and never will. Having something telling me what to expect or what to take for an "optimal" play through kills the entire point of playing games like this for me.

Blind. It is the only way to play the game for the first time.

I usually play blind first time around and only use online help if I get really stuck.  I might get a guide later but only if its collectable and has some art in it.
