Doesn't anyone understand that the Mass effect story was written with a single character in mind, a straight character, stop insulting Bioware's intelligence by claiming a same-sex option would make the game better. The truth is that Mass Effect wouldn't be Mass effect if their was the freedom of character creation and romance that is in dragon age, it would be dragon age in space. Sheppard will never be in a same-sex relationship because he/she is not gay, its that simple.

Okay this seems lieka very contriversial topic that is LACKING positive support.



First of all let me say this: I support Gay/les Shep. For 4 different reasons.

1) Shep can have love interests. why should they be dictated to male or female?

2) If they want a more realistic, yet cinematic story, then they should make it REALISTIC.

-In real life, If I wanted to date my friend Kelly....I'd hit on her....If I wanted to date my friend alex I'd hit on him. Is alex gay? I don't know. Is Kelly strait? I don't know.

3) They BASICALLY already did it in ME1 with liara..I don't CARE if her ALIEN gender is asexual....her VOICE, BODY, AND PERSONA is FEMALE. if it quacks like a duck, and so on. so forth.

4) it would be hot. O_o whats the point of having these sex scenes in the first place? to slightly, almost arouse us, the gamer. some people are NOT aroused by MaleShepxAshley....some people are more aroused by MaleShepxGarrus or FemaleShepXTali.



wouldn't that be cool if MaleShep did it with Garrus and he like...laid Eggs in your stomach or something? that would be so interesting and VERY realistic to me...yeah, yeah, i'd probably barf up a lung, but it would TOTALLY be worth it! It's all apart of the experience!

Except femshep can be gay... hmm, did you not play the romance with Liara?  You need to play the game more...

How about we remove all romances from future Bioware games... I mean come on guys you should be thankful for any romance option they put into their games and besides this game isnt called "Dating Sim 2" if it was I could understand but this is a action rpg sorry guys.

Is there some sort of contest going on for most idiotic post? Why wasn't I told about it?

On the off chance this was supposed to be serious, Shepard isn't supposed to be a particular character. Shepard isn't even supposed to be a he. Shepard is supposed to be the player's character.

Mass Effect was written to"Be your story" and make "your own commander shepard." The same sex option was in the first one and DAO and those were great games. We have very similar (origin stories being the exception) freedom in character creation and twice as many romances as DAO. She's already been in a same sex relationship. You decide your characters orientation.


Any other arguments I can systematically destroy in a polite reasonable manner for you?

Wow, that's maybe the most disturbing thing I've ever concerning about Mass Effect

There are 12 romances. Excuse me if I think that two members of a species specifically created to be DISCOUNT lesbians don't count, especially considering how dramatically their roles are reduced.

That's a pretty bad example as pen and paper RPG's really can be anything one wants...  I saw kids at my junior high playing a P&P game about being dragons that lived in another dimension, no joke either, I'm serious.. so, just sayin, bad example.

I know because I've played them for about 20 years - in about 20 incarnationations (there's a lot more than D&D out there.) 

Do not tell me what it is to play a real RPG.

I think everybody's just making too much of a big deal about it. Yes it's 2010 and all, but it doesn't mean that Bioware is OBLIGED to put same sex romance in ME2. But pushing for something like this, doesn't anybody agree with me that it's making a big deal about nothing? It's just a game for christ sake!

Don't get me wrong, I think that gays should have the right to be equal, and they have the right to fight for their rights. But you gotta draw the line somewhere. Honestly, there's no need to be in everybody's face about it.

Bottom line: it's Bioware's choice whether or not they want to include same sex romance. Just because they aren't doesn't make them homophobic.

no it is being forced and honestly im offended by having to sit through it just like you may be offended if it doesnt exist. pick a side? the obvious choice is pick the side thats supposed to happen by that i mean male - female.

im wrong for saying that? can 2 women make a child? can a man and a woman make a child? thats why im not wrong and thats what should be chosen to make the majority of people both happy and comfortable. like i said idc if ur gay just dont force on us - you know the people that choose to have sex like it was intended?

Try to use direct gameplay examples in your response, it reduces the chance of being locked.

Actually you stated my point. An RPG can be just about anything and is NOT defined by having one element or another.
