BIOWARE, it's 2010, players should have a same-sex romance option.

As well you should.

As things are, the FemShep/Liara "romance" in ME3 might very well be limited to a chaste hug and a few affectionate words.

There should only be same sex romance options if in fact the NPCs you can have romances with are gay or lesbians. Regardless of what you think should be, not everyone is homosexual or have homosexual tendencies. In fact only 2% in a given mammalian species are homosexual or show homosexual tendencies.

I am in support if it makes sense for story wise and it fits the setting.  Placing homosexual romances for the sake of just having a homosexual romance but otherwise does not fit in the story or themes of the game I do not support.

This.

Why do you guys *points at everyone ever to have created a gay romance thread* feel the need to create a new thread every single day. I understand that you guys wish the option, but please think about us, the rest of the posters who do not wish to see half a dozen threads about it. There is literally almost a new thread every day. Private message each other. Decide on a single Thread and then all post in that thread. OR ideally create a group for it and discuss it there. Bioware has given you the option to chat in groups about topics. If you feel strongly about this subject (which many of you clearly do) please post in a group.

Show a little compassion and consideration for your fellow posters who do not wish to see a dozen gay romance threads. I'm sure that creating a group and having a civilized discussion will go over much better impression with bioware.

This 100%. And that's from someone whose bisexual. I would love to skirt both in the game, but one thing I know that can be really annoying in real life is if someone seems to be forcing themselves on you and your not like that. I had a real life experience where I accidently did that with a friend, and she hasn't really talked with me since. I felt stupid, and horrible. Think if your Shepard is gay, or bisexual and he/she approaches someone of the same gender who isn't. That would really strain some relationships. None of the ME squaddies strike me as being gay, except maybe Jacob (sorry token black guy). But for my Shep, I'll be content with Garrus. Would I love to have a thing with Tali? Yes I would. But only if she reciprocates. And it doesn't kill her of course. Of course most guys would assume since Miranda is being billed as the perfect woman that she must swing both ways (har har har....). Unfortunately, even if she does, I don't find her all that attractive so that's a bust anyway.

This is what, the seventeenth thread on this same issue? All that happens is the exact same repition of events (with slightly different wording each time). I don't have any problem with same-sex romance. I do, however, have a problem with people that love to do nothing but complain upon a feature that isn't in-game. It's probably not gonna happen in ME2 unless there already are such characters. The best bet is ME3. A DLC would break immersion, IMO.

And as I said a bit back...

ChaoticBroth wrote...

Why do people bother continuing
threads when it's eventually going to be locked down for the same
reason that the original threads were locked?

And sorry if I come of as harsh or anything, but this is how I see it.

Tell it to the Tali and Garrus fans after ME1 came out... hmm, wonder what happened to their wishes...<_<

In fairness, I don't remember their threads managing to change to the topic of religion and/or beastiality, etc without warning.

He's not wrong in his statement though. Let's just hope people can keep this topic civil, relevant, and politics free.

I rephrase...

They shouldn't. IMO. They aren't going to do it. Commander Shepard is straight. You want to say otherwise, then consult Bioware about their own character.

I quote BioWare here:
"Shepard`s story is your story"

And my FemShep is a lesbian, ask her about Liara.

The game has already gone gold. Why are you guys complaining? The number of people who are weirded out by homosexuals will make a racket and diatribe about this game, hurting sales. It's a marketing choice. They're trying to avoid controversy.

I'm sure they would if Bioware didn't keep locking them. Again I wish for a Bioware response to this and to let them have one post about this.

You are forgetting that this isn't real life....it's just a game!  People play games to escape from all the crap they have to deal with IRL.

This is what I had originally planned to post on the thread that got locked:

I strongly support gay and lesbian romance options.
Due to Bioware games like Jade Empire and Dragon Age + ME1's Liara, I was expecting and looking forward to an f/f romance in ME2Posted Image.
I don't think I'd have been as saddened and disappointed had it not been for the fact that there are SIX het romances in all.
Here's how I feel: It's christmas, you're seeing your siblings get all sorts of cool presents from the relatives, and then excitedly you unpack your own presents only to discover that all you got were tennis socksPosted Image (or empty boxes). Sure, the main point of Christmas is not the presents, and no one promised or owe you anything, but getting only tennis socks on Christmas when your brother got a new computer still sucksPosted Image.

Because Bioware locks the thread down every single day. Zing!

We're sorry for making you see and enter these threads and post in them however. Never happen again, we hope.

Not enough topics on this already?

And with homosexuality off the list of things to talk about what are we supposed to talk about?

Coming from a game company that in the past allowed such romances come true comes to puzzlement now. We may not be able to change the now but we can change the future.

To answer the question, I believe a new one is made because the old ones get closed down due to religious or ideological arguments taking over the thread.  It's not in any way an attempt to flood the forums.  Although, the same argument could be brought up against romance threads in general, which took over the forums a mite bit for a good while. That being said, your idea of a Group based on the subject is an excellent one, but I think part of the topic of threads like this is to promote awareness of interest in the issue.  To the best of my ability I've been unable to find a "Customer Feedback/Suggestions" button or email adress on either the Social or the legacy site.

On purely economic grounds, I doubt there are many people who would not buy the game because they can't have a same sex romance. And the number or players who will have added value out of a same-sex romance is very small. So why would they waste man hours putting it in?

Well, first of all, your stats are highly debatable.    Secondly, it is the player who is supposed to direct the story.  NPCs are collections of polygons, textures, sound files and code.  They don't have sexualities.  If we are paying for the game just like everybody else, we should be able to enjoy the story.

Where's the thread that's suppose to be titled:

BIOWARE, it's 2010, why do you have to censor sex?!?!

Honestly. Wtf.

The answer is: because if they don't, ratings will get it banned in several countries and stores. What can you do?Posted Image

Also, the choice is whether or not to include glbt in a game is a question of resources: as far as I know, there were no exclusively homosexual PC relationships in any Bioware game, just bi characters that swung either way. Cuts back on dialogue production.

There already is a large LGBT group on the site, with a sizeable amount of members. They want to discuss it here out in the open, because they are hoping for a Dev response. It will never come, of course.

This topic doesn`t hurt sales. Dragon Age Origins soled very, very well for a fantasy RPG. It was a huge success and neither Zevran nor Leliana changed something. Stop bring that up in every thread.
