What's impotant to remember is that there is time outside of "run through Presidium" "drive Mako over mountain" etc. that the developers can't add due to space. During this time - there is time for inter-character relationships. Friends, enemies, confidants, conflicts, and yeah - even romance.

Leia and Han shouldn't have a budding relationship because they're fighting the Empire!

Jack and Lily (the movie Legend) shouldn't have a relationship because - they're fighting Darkness!

Nathaniel and Cora from Last of the Mohicans - not only have wars, but the frontier to contend with.

Honestly folks - people find love in nearly every concievable situation.

No I understand that notion and situation, I'm just saying that Shepard was dead for two years, resureccted with some weird cyborg technology, asked to form a team for a suicide mission and given a ship for that exact purpose.

I don't think it's impossible for shep to find romance during all that, but if it was me, I would be way concerned with 1.) my mission and 2.) that I was supposed to be dead but now i have strange mechanical insides keeping me going.  Perhaps others would be more open to romance during that time, I just wouldn't most likely.

I wouldn't have even included romance options at all in this game if I were the head dev, but I'm not, and there are 6 LI's, which means, imo, the option for gay/lesbian/bi/just want gay romance gamers should exist as heterosexual playstyles are catered to ad nausium this go around *shrugs*

Very true. No sarcasm. Some people like fish. Others REALLY like Personal Assistants. I don't see why their needs should go unheeded, or seen as any less important than yours. Bias much?

From my female point of view: I would of course prefer Miranda, Suze or Tali for my FemShep, but the "Asari-mance" (while a cheap way out) is still far more agreeable than being stuck with Thane, Garrus, and Jacob (or no romance at all).
I don't mind playing ManShep to experience the different romance plots in the game, but it would be nice to have at least one f/f romance option in the game. After Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age Origins I would somehow expect this from BioWare, but to be fair, I shall reserve my judgment until after I've played the game.

For those who said "But it'll cause problems", I don't remember Dragon Age causing any problems, and that had a foursome in it!



Mass Effect 1 has sound files for homosexual romances with Kaidan and Ashley I believe, yet they were cut. BioWare have progressed since, and there's really no reason why we can't have a same-sex relationship. Mass Effect gave Liara, but she was really the closest to same-sex we got (FemShep x Liara) although it can be debated whether it's a lesbian relationship or not.



Maybe Miranda could have been tweaked to cater for both, and maybe the same for Jacob. Or whole new squad mates, but as it stands, I believe BioWare are not catering to what appears to be a large selection of their user base. It's not going to stop me buying Mass Effect 2 (Well, the fact I already bought it is irrelevant), but I'm just... disappointed that it's not being catered to.

I think it depends on where you are to. Like where I live if you say gay to me f/f people where stare at you. And go "lesbian right gay means two guys." 

So yeah kind of depends on where you are.

I honestly don't know why they bothered to give us Thane if their intention was make Garrus romanceable all along. Isn't two aliens a little too much? Especially when Sheploo only gets one and two human females.

I think if an NPC is in league with being gay/lesbian wouldnt seem forced or anything, yeah it's 2010, but you have to understand gay/lesbian community is still a minority, not that Bioware or any developer doesnt respect any minority I'm just saying it's tedious putting content of that nature(and I'm not saying anything negative, what may be in the realm of an everyday thing to you may be foreign and alien to another) especially with the way interactive gaming is still looked at as "Mario, Tetris, JUST FOR KIDS" lol I've always viewed gaming aside from something like a straight up shooter with no story, as an interactive movie, it'd be nice if games could have equal expression that film gets away with, hell I've seen more side boob, and bareass on cable tv than in games, and nobody says a word.



I think Dragon Age handled the spectrum of romancing very well, there wasnt a gay NPC though there were bisexual NPCs, but they didnt force any ideal or anything on the player so it wasnt all in your face you know. And I havent really seen any bad press/intentional tarnishing of Dragon Age(yet).



I'd say a lesbian option would probably roll in before a gay romance would being that most guys applaud it in any medium. Do you count the Asari + Female Shepard romance a lesbian affair?
