It depends on how you're doing the sampling. We're not hanging out on a street corner, we're counting people who become involved in the game plot. You seem to be assuming there's some real clumping in the distribution. I don't see any reason why there should be . Edit: for instance, the Alliance probably doesn't use sexual orientation as a factor in crew assignments.
Of course, you've been assuming all along that homosexuals would be underrepresented in the sample because they'd gravitate away from violent professions. But I don't share that assumption, and you hvne't given any reason why someone should.
